No, he clearly suggested we were comparing the “original” with a doctored version of the “original”. He’s saying the Sparky photo is just a copy of the original tintype that has been doctored. That assertion is blatantly absurd.

Just walking back into the conversation. Sorry we had a family illness, I didn’t have time to read or post anything. I see the conversation is back on “fake.” I will try to catch up. Are we at it’s him and it’s fake? If that’s the case, that’s an easy one to prove on my end.

Oh sorry Wayne, I just did not see that as a possibility anyone would make such a bizarre claim, not even Leeb. If I wanted to make a photoshop version of the Dedrick tintype with the intent to pass it off as an unknown BTK tintype, I would definitely skip the part of narrowing the face down to 3/4 of the original.

In the same way that you can produce an image of someone 20 years older as to help in missing person cases you can also do the reverse and knock years off, this picture is obviously of someone about 14/15 years, hence the thinner face.

If you can look into the eyes of these two images being compared and say they are not both Billy the Kid, then I don’t know what to to tell you. For those of you learning facial recognition, remember it’s all in the ears. The facial recognition apps I know of scale faces by the forehead. Where do I start? Do I have to explain. If I have to explain that to a bunch of cowboys, we’re all in trouble. I appreciate everyone’s time. Including the nay sayers. This may be our last glimpse of Billy the Kid in our lifetimes. And for you nay sayers, this may have been the closest to likeness of BTK you will ever dispute. Hope the conversation keeps going. I will pop back in from time to time. Thanks again to everybody.

Hello. I have a newly discovered Billy the Kid tintype. The facial recognition work backs it up. The face is close to the same angle as the known Billy the Kid tintype. It’s has a slightly turned face where the known Billy is facing forward. The chin of Billy is raised slightly more in the known tintype also. Both images share a common birth mark. It passes recognition apps at 86 percent. Pretty solid number considering 2 tintypes are being compared. My tintype has some scratching and staining that likely drops the percentage points quite a bit. I need advice. I have always been told that billy the kid was related to me. If you saw my siblings or me you could see the resemblance. My family is originally from Kentucky I believe. If you need a DNA test that may match one of the two I would be up for it.

I have two old tintypes that I have always thought might be BTK and possibly his stepfather. Have never had time to research them before and now am semi-retired. Where could I post them for more info?

Here’s the the other facial recognition work No ear lobes no kid. Same goes for pics of Brushy. He didn't have lobes either, and therefore, he isn't the kid either. Billy had very obvious detached ear lobes.

Billy had very obvious detached ear lobes. The Dedrick tintype is much too distorted with oxidation/black spots all over and lack of clarity to make a definite determination of the shape of the ears/earlobes.
