This is ver batim from a notarized affidavit signed by Josephine Sanchez in February, 1990.
<<Before me, the undersigned authority, on this day, personally appeared Mrs. Josephine Randolph Sanches of Lincoln County, New Mexico, who, upon her oath, deposes and says:
That her name is Josephine Randolph Sanches, that she was born in San Patricio, New Mexico on March 4, 1920, that her Grandfather was Frank Randolph who came to New Mexico with the California Column, that when her parents moved to Ruidoso they left her to live with her grandparents, the Frank Randolphs, that she grew up with them and that Frank Randolph was a personal friend of Billie the Kid, and ran around with him. That her Grandfather dated a girl in Hondo, N.M. and Billie the Kid dated a Sedillos girl across the river from San Patricio, that when Brushy Bill came to see Severo Gallegos in April of 1950 she lived right next door to Severo, that Severo had gone to the store to buy some tobacco and while they went to get him she visited with Brushy Bill, that she thought it was an excellent opportunity for her to see if he was really Billie the Kid, that she asked him, "Who was your sweetheart in San Patricio?" and that without any hesitation whatsoever Brushy Bill said, "A Sedillos girl across the river."
This affiant had heard further that Brushy Bill could not speak a word of Spanish so while waiting for the return of Severo she talked to him in Spanish, that he answered her in perfect Spanish, and could speak it fluently, that after the above named incidents, I, Josephine Randolph Sanches, knew very well that Brushy Bill Roberts was indeed Billie the Kid.>>
This was notarized by Sandra Gail Knox, Notary Public in and for Lincoln County, New Mexico and states it will be picked up by William Tunstill.
Now, if what she says is true then this would be very convincing. How in the world would Brushy know that information unless he really was BTK? But, there's a hitch here. The only Frank Randolph I can find in the census that might be the right one was born no earlier than 1867. That makes him no more than 13 or 14 years old when he "ran around" with Billie the Kid and "dated a girl in Hondo, N.M." So I was wondering if any of you accomplished census researchers could come up with anything new as relates to this affidavit.

Frank Randolph was born Oct 1869 (1900 census). His son, Candelario Randolph, was born September 1898. Andelario Ranolph, age 22, and Virginia, age 18, are married in the 1920 census. They have no children.
Andelario Randolph, age 30, and Virginia, age 28, have 3 children in the 1930 census. Josephine is 10. In the 1940 census, Josephine Randolph and Eddie Sanchez are married and live in Ruidoso. Josephine, FAG #16597471 (4 March 1920-May 1996) FAG #16456110. Andy Randolph (Andelario), b. 15 Sep 1898, d. Dec 1978, son of Frank Lucero Randolph (4 Oct 1870-22 Feb 1943) is buried in Ruidoso. Frank is buried in San Patricio (FAG # 81705117)

When reading the affidavit I noticed Josephine Sanchez did not specifically mention that her Grandfather Frank Randolph and Billy the Kid dated the girls at the same time, she did not mention an exact date or age that her grandfather was when he had dated the girl in Hondo N.M. or when Billy dated the Sedillos girl? so could it be possible that the two dated ladies at different times and Josephine meant to convey that but reading it the way it was written it unintentionally gives impression that Frank and Billy had dated ladies together? Although Frank was 13 to 14 I believe he could have still known Billy, I’m guessing maybe Frank had exaggerated a little when telling his recollections to Josephine saying he ran around with Billy the Kid, maybe Billy stopped at his home for a meal on occasion?

Missy,
Yes, I agree completely with those interpretations. We must always remember where affidavits are concerned, the text is not necessarily the word for word statement of the affiant so much as a synopsis written by the notary or possibly the person requesting the affidavit. Nonetheless it is the affiant who is asked to sign the document verifying that it correctly describes what they are attesting to. That doesn't mean there is no room for error or misinterpretation. There almost always is. The census info TTT posted above indicates Frank was born in 1869 which would mean he was only 10 or 11 at the time, though I found a different record that showed his birth year as 1867. Either way, your comments still provide some possible explanations.
In this case, I believe we have very strong evidence that Brushy Bill Roberts and Billie The Kid were one and the same.

Actually the first I heard of this was when I read Brett Hall's Book titled "Brushy Bill Roberts alias BTK". The whole thing was mentioned in a footnote. I actually emailed Brett and asked him for more info about that footnote. The story came from Jim Tully who knew Josephine and I inquired if there was any documentation. Brett said there was but he would have to find it again in his records and would get back to me. He never got back to me. So I had always wondered exactly where and how he came across that. Now I know. It obviously came from William Tunstill who apparently was the one who arranged for Josephine to give the affidavit. So thanks for coming up with that. I do believe it is legit, but I'm surprised it was not mentioned in Morrison's book and has been largely overlooked by the other Brushy authors.

Wayne, I am friends with Billy Randolph who is the nephew of Josephine Randolph Sanchez and also, by the way, the Great Great Grandson of Sherriff William Brady. He and the majority of his family believe that Brushy was the kid. He spoke to his Aunt many times before she died and he can tell you the whole story. He is investigating the Sedillo girl mentioned as well and knows who she was and her real name. Apparently her father did not like Billy dating her because Billy was 19 or 20 at the time and his daughter was only 15 I believe. If you like I can speak to Billy Randolph and get him to contact you.

Here is the info that Billy Randolph has been able to find out about the Sedillo girl that Billy dated.
The Sedillo girl name according to Mr Alexander from CO is Angelita born 1865 died in Roswell NM, her parents were Jose Miguel and Maria Garcia Sedillo Angelita brother Sixto born 1868 and died in Weld County CO 1957 . The story goes that Angelia father Jose was friends with BB/ BTK who took an interest in Angelita Her father Jose disapproved and married Angelita to off to an old man . I going to try to confirm this by doing some more research. Stay tune .
Angelita died in Roswell 1940

After Benito Trujillo died, Angelita later married Francisco Gutierrez, supposedly one of Billy the Kid's friends.

This is all great information and I believe it lends much credibility to the story attested to by Josephine Sanches. I've contacted a member of ancestry.com who has Angelita in her family tree. Hopefully she has some information about all this as well.

Hopefully she has some information about all this as well. Brief excerpts from (public domain) The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid By Pat F. Garrett CHAPTER XI Pertains to Jose Miguel Sedillo, the father of Angelita Sedillo: " Jose Miguel Sedillo, a faithful ally of the Kid, brought him information, one day in June about daylight, that Jesse Evans with a party from below were prowling about, probably with the intention of stealing a bunch of horses belonging to Chisum and McSween, and which were in charge of the Kid and party." "How are you, Jess?" answered the Kid. "It's a long time since we met. Come over to Miguel Sedillo's and take breakfast with me; I've been wanting to have a talk with you for a long time, but I'm powerful hungry."

Thanks MissyS. I had forgotten much of what was discussed back then and it helps a lot to review all that. The exciting "new" thing is that Josephine actually signed an affidavit attesting to the story of meeting Brushy. Thanks so much for your contributions on this.
