Elwood, are you referring to the photo with the cigar? Nolan, may he rest in peace, was probably right about that guy being Marion Turner, it dont look nothing like Billy the kid. However, the photo Missy suggested may have been confused with the cigar photo is very interesting since that guy do look like Billy:

The man sitting at left in that group photo was identified as Bob Speaks also by a couple Jones bros, but Eve Ball said the man seated at left was Buck Powell, if she got the one mistaken she may have also have gotten Marion Turner mistaken as well? I located a couple images of Buck Powell: www.angelfire.com/mi2/billythekid/powell.html I couldn’t find one of Bob Speaks to compare, it doesn’t mean she was right or wrong about Marion Turner it’s just interesting if she could have been right in identifying Buck Powell? Bob Speaks is the one standing to the left.

Back row, from left, William "Billy the Kid" Bonney, Jim Jones. One of the Heiskell Jones Family historians had married the grandson of Sam Jones (brother of John Jones) and had lived next door to Sam Jones during the 1950s. She had identified the man in the photo as Billy the Kid.

So Nolan wrote that this guy was Btk? <button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button> No, that isn't the photo. Check this thread: brushybill.proboards.com/thread/580/facial-recognition-bit-funSome of the discussion: "photograph of the 4 men is on page 157 of "The West of Billy the Kid" by Frederick Nolan, copyright 1998. The 4 men are identified by Eve Ball, to whom the photograph was given by the Jones family, as, left to right, Jim Jones, Bob Speakes, John Jones, and Marion F Turner. Others believe that the man at front left is Buck Powell, not Bob Speakes. " "The photo of the man with the cigar in his mouth is one of the men depicted in photographs immediately following page 58 of "Alias Billy the Kid", copyright 1955. The 4 men are identified as, left to right, Jim Jones, Bob Speakes (trail boss), John Jones, and Billy the Kid. " "If Marion F. Turner is the young-looking man behind John Jones, then he was about 46 years old in 1878, the year of the photograph. Fred Nolan indicated that Marion Turner was born about 1832. "
