Playing Devil's Advocate here, my hair look quite dark in the winter, but a bit of sun on it and it's fully blonde in summer......100% natural, takes a lot of people by surprise. I'm not arguing one way or the other, just saying how hard it is arguing over specifics of hair color in different pics, particularly when said pics are black and white to start with! Black and white can be useful and still has military use for high definition... the Vegas photo shows quite dark imagery of Pat Garrett and most of the others probably due to poor lighting as well as Pat having quite a dark, complexion .. the Croquet picture - taken outdoors at some distance shows quite good definition of characters but for one: Susan McSween standing beside BTK is as clear as a belle - even the fair Sally Chisum is reasonably recognisable..simularly the darker complexions of Bowdrie and Big Jim?? Evidence is evidence until its proved right or wrong...DNA from the hair (if not from an animal) will,be interesting - the barber's wife story should not be just ignored.....nor the words of Paulita Maxwell - yet the most esteemed historians still say Paulita was BTK 's girlfriend - that there was a gun in the Privy - and that nothing untoward happened at Fort Sumner July 1881....

The new technique developed specifically for the Sitting Bull case opens many doors. Why would it now not be used in the case of BTK or Jesse / Dalton. The advancements allow the accurate use of hair and teeth which was not always possible before. Using living descendants, or known info, the plausibility of Miller, Brushy, Dalton et al could be examined in much more detail. It may make ruling some of these 'out of the running' possible.
Exciting times.

the croquet picture has never been authenticated which is why it never sold, there are no more pictures of the kid apart from the tintype and also old brushy had black hair which the real kid didn't. Such a long reply but didn't actually answer anything Leeb - you have said before the Fort Sumner tin type was the one and only.. Sally Chisum's diary is accepted today as putting her in this picture - not to mention Big Jim who was hired by her uncle to protect Susan McSween. So we agree that BTK had fair hair and complexion ? He may indistinct in the photo - but the cardigan fits as does the people he is with and the location he is at....ironically the clearly defined man in the foreground escapes me - don't think its Tom..?-- Any suggestions --

If the original tintype had only sold for a couple of pounds then the pictures that you seem to have convinced yourself are genuine wouldn't have even come to light. The 2million price tag enabled the world and his wife to own a pic of BTK.

Nothing authenticated but just a picture that you like and believe is Billy?

If the original tintype had only sold for a couple of pounds then the pictures that you seem to have convinced yourself are genuine wouldn't have even come to light. The 2million price tag enabled the world and his wife to own a pic of BTK. It was assumed Pat had access to one piece of the Old Tin-Type to illustrate his book...while BTK was still in Santa Fe jail the Vegas journalist was able to reproduce the image in his newspaper article....so he may have had another original. If either of these still exist - no one knows where (or which pile of junk) Much later - the Maxwell's allowed copies to be made from Deluvina's original (Paulita said one copy was displayed in the Palace of the Governors )before their image was definitively loss in a house fire.... The fourth surviving image was secreted away by the Dedrick family in California for over 100 years - what's so strange about local families in New Mexico keeping their photos of BTK to themselves or people not surprisingly checking out old tin- types in junk shops and E Bay ? The LCW did'nt end overnight...the animosity extended into the twentieth century and BTK's friends never had the Law or Justice on their side - Brushy's meeting with the Governor was a farce and even Steve Sederwall at first took the atitude that he was after a vicious " Cop -killer".....
