Yes 3T - an alias is a good cover story when you are also presumed dead as were both BTK and Evans - so much so that their true identity had ceased to exist. These two friends from both sides of the LCW lived long lives unknown but to each other.Evans lived a quiet life whereas Brushy continued his adventurous ways -both trying to avoid assasination (Brushy also a death sentence) by enemies that they eventually out lived ...perhaps Pat Garrett should have changed his name? Really surprised that Oliver P Roberts assumed the alias of Brushy Bill after his marriages to Mollie Brown, Lutecia Ballard, and Lizzie Allison. Who would want to hurt a dirt farmer and rodeo rider?

What's the thoughts on Miller more likely being George Axelby of the Axelby Gang, particularly as his main man was the 'other' Billy the Kid' - William McCarthy? It would explain Miller's handiness with the gun and need to stay hidden.

And provide an interesting tale, if he wasn't BTK but WAS another outlaw who changed his name and survived for many years it's another great story.

My only problem with that is that Miller comes into historical record on August 8,1881 in Las Vegas, NM and the Axelby gang Valentine's Day shootout was in 1884 so a rough 2 and a half years later he's in Montana? Miller was trying to go straight so idk

I can't recall offhand, but is the Las Vegas 1881 date definitely genuine? Was it not actually later? Apols, I can't remember without checking. Dale Tunnell's book is a brilliant read on this topic
