I recently stumbled across maybe a little clearer image of that postcard. I don’t know if these two have been compared before?, I apologize if a comparison was posted of the man the postcard may have been referring to as Billy the Kid and the one of Brushy. Just looking I see some similarities between the two. You're absolutely right there are similarities with this photo of young Brushy. The eyebrows match perfectly. You nailed it also with both Billy Dixon and King Fisher having remarkable resemblance. Good work!

would agree that the woman back left certainly appears to be close to the images i've seen of Belle Starr, jawline was quite rounded. Not sure its Ab Saunders as dont recall him ever sporting a moustache in any of his pics or descriptions i've read - but that could have been a short lived facial growth for Movember I would agree that the front left of pic is Jose Chavez Y Chavez,

It looks like the Supposed Billy in the postcard has a kinda lazy eye or one eye looking a tiny bit larger? and in that particular photo of Brushy’s he too looks to have that characteristic, (in that photo anyway) it could be the expression that makes the one eye look a little bigger than the other?, also the space between the bridge of the nose and brows look alike too, if I enlarge the smaller image to the same size then it gets blurry, just visually comparing the one eye and brows and space between the bridge of the nose looks close to me, the lighting also can make a difference. The postcard stated that Billy the Kid is in the group, the one sitting in middle does not look like a teenager, and the mustache is questionable. If the person standing on the back left is Belle Starr then what other one could be Billy the Kid? If it’s Belle Starr then it’s possible the Kid isn’t in the photo and it’s inaccurate, or the man sitting is him and it was really taken after Billy the Kid became an outlaw instead of before and he had a bushy mustache at sometime?

None of the other men look like Billy the Kid to me, not even remotely.

The woman could be Belle Starr, far right is Doc Skurlock; Far right sitting is Pat Garrett, to his left sitting his Billy/Brush and to his left sitting is Jose Chavez Y Chavez. Top middle I am not sure but could be Ab Saunders. I was kinda assuming the one standing at far left was the one the postcard was referring to as being Billy the Kid because the card states that the photo is of him before turning outlaw with five cronies, who formed the first gun club in the early days of the west, if this is true then the Billy the Kid pictured would have to be a teenager, and the one standing on the left is the one in the group that comes closest to passing as a teenager, the clothing looks more like a man than a woman’s, I can see similarities with it and one of Brushy, the shape of the eyes and brows, but it may be Belle Starr and maybe the postcard is misleading or not correct on the information? Some of these postcards printed have a little added information that the gun club was in Western Kansas, I don’t know why some of the postcards printed that but not all? I don’t know if Belle Starr hung out in Western Kansas area? Billy was described by the press in 1880 of having traditional silky fuzz on his upper lip, and the man sitting looks to have more of a thick mustache. It’s a mystery of which one is who? The postcard below shows Western Kansas others don’t say that, and oddly the suit jacket on the man sitting on far left is different from the other postcard also. I did not see that. Okay, then that makes sense, but I may not have seen this either. So, this postcard where did someone obtain it? Do they know the provenance of it?

Does the man sitting in the middle have a gambler's ring on his right hand or is that just light?

The photo on the postcard is a mystery really, there’s not much information of where or when it was taken? The postcard may have been printed as a souvenir? It’s the mystery of it that’s so intriguing, it may be misidentified, or a different Billy the Kid. I don’t know? It does look like a gamblers ring on the man sitting, I don’t know what kind of rifle it is he’s holding maybe someone can tell from the more clearer photo? I wish there was more info about it, I wonder if it was ever in a book or newspaper or anyplace other than the postcard?

I dont think anyone is known from Billys friends or gang...It is just a photo...one of hundreds that show resemblance to known outlaws...maybe Doc can be the real deal but i have my doubts...it is very lookalike though... The woman can very well be just that...it looks so...feminine face and hair...but even men got long hair as well so its difficult to be sure. Without provenience it is impossible to say anything. They lied about everything even then. Maybe one day we will have answers...it is a cool picture.
