I took a brief DNA test a while back. I am actually related to Brushy Bill. That's why I joined here to learn more about him. The DNA's matched and then they took a second test. They matched again! What I find strange is that I don't have any physical similarities to anyone in the family. :/

Do you match family members of Brushy??. I'm not aware of any DNA from him directly existing.. I may be mistaken. What matched, many people think any DNA match is a slam dunk for proof of who someone is, when all it proves is they have a family relation somewhere down the line. Maybe somewhere in your family someone knows something no one has posted about Brushy that can shed light on his story.

Maybe somewhere in your family someone knows something no one has posted about Brushy that ca n shed light on his story. I'm sure there is. I would have to ask my family. I found many articles about Brushy Bill in my aunt's storage. But I've not seen them since 1998. I just edited my post to add that I had my DNA tested in 2003. |

I was told that it's possible Brushy Bill might have somehow interacted with the natives. Maybe in his younger days. As I am partly Native American. I am also Irish.

Please clarify. Exactly who's DNA did you match with? It is not known there are any DNA samples that came directly from Brushy himself. Did you match someone descended from Oliver Pleasant Roberts or is there someone you believed descended from William H. Roberts (Brushy's claimed identity) that you matched? We really, really need to know the story on exactly how you claim to match "Brushy's" DNA.

Henry McCarty. I have emailed the people who took my DNA sample and have asked them to confirm it and tell me exactly who they matched. The tests are rather old now, they are from 2003.

I was never matched with any cousins or brothers or sisters even though I actually am. My grandparents all passed on in the 1990s so I could not ask my paternal grandparents about it. I learned everything from my elders my aunts, uncles who did know. After reading all of the articles about Billy the Kid that my grandmother and aunt kept I wanted to be sure that we were distant relatives of his. Which is why I had my DNA tests done in October 2003 I believe it was on the 18th. I had found the DNA database online. I call him Brushy Bill because he claimed he was the same person. So it stuck with me. |

They had some very old articles about Billy The Kid. And when I was in my late teens I was told that we were distant relatives. My eldest uncle use to resemble him a little. He passed on 2 years ago. |

They were called Gene Bank Database but they have a bigger database now. A lot of the information that we know is not accurate. Wikipedia is not accurate. I can't tell you how they obtained his DNA because I'm not a staff member. I sent an email to them but they have not replied. It might seem impossible, but I do have my DNA analysis report from 2003. If I choose to I can post it. Only it is against the law here to do that. Well, that's what I was told in Kennedy Plaza. |

There are no known descendants of either Henry McCarty/William Antrim/William Bonney/Billy the Kid, or Brushy Bill/William Henry Roberts/Oliver Pleasant Roberts. A comparison is an impossibility. |
