These are direct quotes pulled from the eyewitness account by John W. Poe.
"I observed that he was only partially dressed and was both bareheaded and barefooted (or, rather, had only socks on his feet) and it seemed to me that he was fastening his trousers as he came toward me"
"This enabled us to get a view of the inside, where we saw a man lying stretched upon his back, dead, in the middle of the room, with a six-shooter lying at this right hand and a butcher knife at his left."

I believe Silva....he went in first - not Deluvina nor anyone else : Jesus said the body was lying face down and he turned it onto its back...everyone else proclaimed the body supine.Had the bullet missed the heart and went through the shoulder blade...only someone like Gale Cooper could speculate on whether or not the victim would fall face down after being shot point blank by a .44-40 bullet. Jesus also said : some time after being shot - the body emitted sounds..

I was expecting the poe quotes and at no time did Mr Poe say he saw BTK with a gun in one hand a knife in the other fastening his pants. BTK needing 3 hands is a touch of poetic licence.

Call it poetic license or what you will. You said Brushy's story was "Nuts". I am saying Poe's story was "Nuts". He did say Billy was fastening his pants as he approached. And he said the body was discovered with a pistol at one hand and a knife at the other. So how are we to assume that pistol and knife got there unless Billy was carrying them when he was shot? Are we to assume the pistol and knife were both tucked into his pants as he came toward the house, the same pants he was trying to fasten, and he pulled them out just as he entered the room? That didn't happen. He pointed his gun at the deputies, so where was the knife at the time, still in his pants pocket? The story Poe told is "Nuts". When I posted that opinion, I didn't say who the comments came from. I was simply presenting a rebuttal to your description of Brushy's story as "Nuts".
You seem to be intelligent enough you can understand that. So stop being obtuse and trying to provoke me. It doesn't help your argument one bit.

Poe didn't say he was fastening his pants he said it 'SEEMED ' he was.. Correct, the actual definition is: "to appear to the observation or understanding" and/or "to give the impression of being". So based on what Poe said, that is an indication of more probable than not. Notice he didn't say, "I thought" which is an inference of indecisiveness. So if we were in Las Wages and placing a bet, it's far more likely that he WAS fastening his pants than he wasn't, agree?

Poe didn't say he was fastening his pants he said it 'SEEMED ' he was.. You can try to change the interpretation of what Poe said in order to better fit your beliefs but it is obvious to most level headed individuals that according to Poe's description BTK was trying to fasten his pants as he approached and that after being shot he had a knife at one hand and a pistol at the other. I did not say any of that was fact. I did not say we can believe the Kid was fastening his pants as he approached. I'm saying Poe thought so and that his story is "Nuts" in response to your comments about Brushy's vision being "Nuts". If you'll agree that there were nutty stories told by both sides then we can drop the discussion that may itself be "Nuts" and move on to more logical and meaningful debate of the facts.

Poe didn't say he was fastening his pants he said it 'SEEMED ' he was.. It was mid-night after all...Poe also gave the impression BTK approached them unseen at first until he was almost upon them : it seems BTK's main concern was not avoiding two men with rifles who could shoot him on sight - but to adjust his clothing to make himself more presentable! It would seem the man who approached the Lawmen had no reason to fear them at all...

It would seem the man who approached the Lawmen had no reason to fear them at all... The final trial of BTK is really a trial of Brushy Bill....Garrett's investigation into Bell's death, saw that he was killed by a "rebound -a poor shot" - by accident....not conducive to legend - just as Benteen saw immediately after the Custer battle : most of the soldiers were shot from behind.Libby Custer led the charge to rewrite history just as the person who fired the shot into the wall at the bottom of the stairs in the Lincoln County Court House...everyone who goes there looks at that hole in the donut - except Sederwall who quickly dismissed it as the hoax it was and is ...not so state acclaimed - historians and of course local business interests and polticians.
