If you study Chavez nose closely in the mugshot you'll notice how its kind of oddly shaped. Its rather small, short and with sort of a concave shape to it. Exactly in the same manner as the alledged young chavez in the photo with Billy the kid and Tunstall. But the other guy who is possibly Rudabaugh has a completely different shaped nose. Its straight and also much longer. The way a persons nose change with age is usually that it gets larger with years. I dont think its common for a nose to shrink over the years and not to go from concave to straight either. Im no expert either, but in this case I feel quiet certain. The photo from Flores book cant be Chavez. Unless of course the mugshot is fake, but I think we can rule that out.

Yeah it makes sense, I do have a bigger nose than I had 20 years ago, its a little fatter. And yeah when I look at pics the noses are very different, like we say sometimes, you've hit it right on the nose! 😀

I’m glad there was a full length of the photo found and a video of it, it was a trick of the eye for me. I do agree the man standing could be Tunstall, Do you think the other man resembles Jose Chavez Y Chavez as well? Looking at his photo when he was in prison, and visually comparing it to the other seated man I can see similarities in the eyebrows and nose, to me looks like he could possibly be Jose Chavez Y Chavez as a younger man without a mustache? www.desertusa.com/desert-people/chavez.htmlYes it could definitely be Chavez Y Chavez. I think that the level of resemblance is very high on all three, I made a collage for comparison. And as long as this photo is not some kind of fake, if it indeed is a tintype image from the 1880s, the probability is very high that it really is Billy in my opinion. The clothing of Billy matching and all. Also the pose with Tunstall standing up with his hands on the others shoulders, just like a boss who really likes his employees and are friends with them. It all adds up. The only explanation I can think of this is not Billy would be if its a faked image. View Attachment

I am Denis Gaubert, the owner of the tintype featured in the two YouTube videos. I can assure you that the tintype is a genuine 19th-century image, unaltered in any way. There are no identifying labels, scratched writing, and paper holder associated with it. (I included the April Fool comment as a mocking reference to claims that the so-called Pat Garrett/BTK/Dave Rudabaugh tintype has miniscule writing identifying its subjects. If you need a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe to read the "writing," the writer would have needed one to scratch the writing. Why? Makes zero sense.)

I really think your tintype is the real deal and Im looking forward to the day it becomes authenticated. I strongly suggest to lock that up in a very expensive safe or vault!

One thing about the photo that started this thread, do anyone think that the guy to the left there looks anything like Curly Bill? I think there is some resemblance at least. But perhaps Curly Bill did not ride with Evans around the time of 1874-1875? If I remember things right Brushy said he met Evans around that time, after he met Belle Starr? I know Ive read somewhere anyway that Evans and BTK first met when BTK was not so old. Anyway, here comes another comparison for a possible Curly Bill. Do anyone have a photo of Jim Mcdaniels? View AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentJust making a note here, Brushy said he first met Jesse Evans in 1870 or 1871 (Alias Billy the Kid, Sonnichsen/Morrison, page 12). So it's possible this photo was taken as early as 1870 when Brushy was about 11 years old and had just met Evans/Campbell. The kid in the photo appears to be a young boy about the age of 12 to maybe 15 years old, in my opinion, which would suggest the photo was taken a bit later, somewhere around 1872-1875.
