The video has been out for months and everyone knows you need to pay and subscribe to watch it. Why are you pretending to act surprised as if I'm the one who just broke the news to you that you have to pay. I'm guessing you must have been barred from Daniel's Billy the kid Facebook group and that's why you've returned here. I don't believe I ever was in his group. I had and still do have my own Brushy Bill Roberts page, albeit I don't keep up with it as I should. Mr Edwards did message me at one point saying I was using some copyrighted image of his, and to take it down, but I told him I wasn't aware of that fact because it was an image I randomly found on Google but because he said so I took it down. I'll admit after the arguments here a year or so ago where I was banned and some hardworking posts (the only copy of research I had) was deleted from the forum I felt pretty demoralized and upset that I didn't bother with Brushy/Billy research for quite some time. Not to get into personal details of my life, but a lot of family tragedies also occurred and for the passed year I've largely concentrated on going to work and see to family concerns. Every once in a great while, though, out of curiosity I would look at this website and post something but didn't really keep up to date on everything. All I can say is if Mr Edwards has everything set up to where only members of his group were privy to how and where to get access to the documentary, you must concede me the benefit of the doubt that since I never was a member of his group (as far as I can remember) that I wouldn't have known how and where--- especially when you figure I'm not a subscriber to Mr Edwards YouTube channel, so it may be that it doesn't show the documentary being available unless you clicked "subscribe." I'd just suggest that for greater outreach purposes Mr Edwards ought to make it available for everyone to see its available without having to be a subscriber. Because from my perspective it didn't seem to be there when looking at it as an unsubscriber. You don't need to be a member to search youtube for the Billy the Kid Silver City photo and easily find it and see the white star in a green circle and the words Members Only written in bold writing. You are not being honest. You have great research skills but failed to find a video on youtube.

You are not being honest. You have great research skills but failed to find a video on youtube. Not dishonest. I thought it was on the "Videos" section. I just looked now at the "Playlist" section and seen the "Members Only" list of videos. I would've thought a video of that importance would've been on the regular video section and pinned to the top or something that way people could find it quickly. Regardless, I don't find it kosher to put a price tag on something like that especially when you want the photo to be confirmed as being authentic. I might buy a membership because on the Members Only list is a video called "The Stolen Photos" which I'm assuming implies the photos from Brushy's trunk. I still maintain any new photos of Billy The Kid need to go through the proper channels. I'm all for new evidence and arguments. I just would like it to be done properly so it could be credited as fact rather than ignored. Jesus Christ Almighty God bless you all

What we're dealing with here is quite obvious. If one doesn't want Brushy's claim to be proven true, then one looks for all kind of reasons to dismiss anything that supports his claim. The film is soon to be streaming on a major TV provider. If you can't afford the $5 then wait until it's released. But in the meantime, don't dig yourself into a hole you can't get out of. Once you've seen the video you might have to beg for a ladder.

As for the assertion, "if one doesn't want Brushy's claims to be true, then one looks for all kinds of reasons to dismiss anything that supports his claim," that's dismissive itself of anyone who dares ask questions. I was originally a Brushy believer. It was evidence and arguments presented on this forum, along with my own research that made me doubt the veracity of his claims. That being said my position has been there's mixtures of truth and fiction in Brushy's claims, and I don't think everything he said was a lie. I believe he might've been related to Billy The Kid or personally knew people who knew Billy The Kid. I don't dismiss him completely off hand. Nobody would be a happier person to be proven wrong, but so far I have seen nothing to shake my opinion that he was Billy The Kid. For argument sake I might purchase the membership just to thoroughly examine the documentary and give my thoughts piece by piece, just like I did the "Last Trial of Billy the Kid" film done by the Back to Billy channel. Jesus Christ Almighty God bless you all

There's nothing wrong with asking questions, of course. The problem comes in when you think you have the answers without even knowing the evidence. Not my intention to dismiss the questions, certainly. But rather dismiss the uninformed answers.

As stated, I will at some point break down the documentary Mr Edwards made like I did the "Last Trial of Billy The Kid" that the Back to Billy channel made; you would be pleasantly surprised that of the 14 some odd charges against Brushy Bill Roberts in that documentary I said that only one was problematic for Roberts and the other thirteen were either lies or nothingburgers. Do I take that to mean you haven't yet formed an opinion on the validity of the photo? Because you sure sound like you've already decided it can't be authentic. If I jumped to that impression prematurely, I apologize.

If I jumped to that impression prematurely, I apologize. Thanks Wayne. I never once said that the photo was not authentic. Or wasn't Billy The Kid. I merely was speculating as to why the specific man was used for analysis, etc. But, I will watch the documentary at some point and break down the film bit by bit. Jesus Christ Almighty God bless you all Why can’t a man with extensive employment experience in that exact field be used for analysis? Would you be asking the same question if Dan had used someone you knew/had heard of/approved of? It just looks a tad bit like a double standard there. One rule for Dan, none for everyone else. I do find it odd that he didn’t appear to know Billy but not everybody is a history buff and nothing about him trying to tell who the picture was of seemed fake to me. I do think he was being honest about not knowing. He maybe thought the picture was familiar at most but I didn’t feel there was any deception there. (But I will say that I am not a fan of policing institutions and the systemic corruption within them; and acting against his favour, Furia does appear to have had several accusations levied against him for abuse of authority over the years, if I’m looking into the correct detective.)

Should there be a number 8 explanation added to the list of explanations? and that would be the consideration of Brushy’s age. Considering his age when Morrison found him, although he seemed sharp about remembering certain events and things that impacted his life where he had scars from, it’s understandable that those events would be more difficult to forget but names, dates, and things that involved events that he didn’t dwell on and was suddenly asked to recall may have been foggy at the time due to his age. I don’t know if it could be the most simplest explanation that he was Billy the Kid but due to his age and memory he may have gotten some things wrong? You could add that to the list, yes. However, I would add a ninth category piggybacking off of that eighth suggestion, and that would be something like selective memory or even false memories. Brushy was far more detailed about his alleged early life than he was the details of The Kid (ie, 3 Day Battle when in fact it was 5 days for example) and subsequently was more detailed about his life post-Kid. It seems peculiar or suspicous why that is. From my point of view, the single greatest evidence Brushy had wasnt affidavits or his story or even his appearance. All of them had flaws, inconsistencies, no evidence, or were at best questionable. The greatest single piece of evidence he had was in his trunk. The scarf. The scarf exchanged for a photograph story was something nobody knew about. Not the historians of the time, let alone the dime store serialists. It was only known about decades after Brushy died when a letter was found in Indiana from the friends of The Kid mentioning in passing the even took place. How does one explain this? There's a few scenarios to consider: 1- Brushy was The Kid 2- Brushy knew The Kid or his associates 3- Brushy went to Fort Sumner The latter is possible. Its easy to imagine a diehard fan of The Kid going to where his idol allegedly died, and heard this story firsthand from Deluvina Maxwell or someone who knew her. The scarf in his posession may not be the real scarf from the story but was one that looked like the real thing, or was just any old scarf someone couldve gotten from anywhere in New Mexico. Now, everyone knows my own theories that Roberts might've been related. Or its possible his dad Henry had associations with The Kid. I dont think people ever truly dived into the newspapers, censuses, plat maps, etc to see if Henry was ever in New Mexico or Arizona, etc. Its possible considering Henry's stepfather owned land all the way to Nevada. But I must admit, the scarf story is such an odd peculiarity that it raises the question, "What if?" and that object alone keeps Roberts in the race because it is difficult to dismiss the story because allegedly nobody knew about it, unless there exists in the archives a long forgotten newspaper article mentioning it.

How does one explain this?
If you have the book, The Saga of Billy the Kid by Walter N. Burns, look on pages 194 - 195 and it talks about the scarf and the picture. This was published in 1926. If you don't have the book, you can go to the Fort Worth Record -Telegram, August 26, 1926, Page 11 and read it. On July 12, 1926, the newspaper started posting The Saga of Billy the Kid by Walter Noble Burns each day until sometime in September.
In the Aug. 5, 1926, Page 7 paper, you can read about Billy and Fred Wayte being wounded, Wayte in the thigh and Billy through the flesh of his hip as Brushy also said. This is not correct. Billy was shot inside the left thigh and Fred Wayte (Waite) did not go out into the street when Brady was killed.

Nevertheless, as stated before, I'm not one who believes Brushy Bill Roberts was Billy The Kid. Then the strongest evidence he has, in the end, are the two affidavits from Gallegos and Montoya. I will say, though, to give Martile Able more credit as to her reliability that PRIOR TO meeting Brushy Bill Roberts she was used years prior to discredit "Fiddling" Henry Smith who claimed for years that he, too, was Billy The Kid. I don't know all the details but apparently she had knowledge that locals felt credible enough to discredit or validate someone's claims. The way I understand it, at some point, Billy The Kid allegedly came to her house when her husband was still alive. This was after The Kid was supposedly dead. She met the man, her husband told her it was Billy The Kid. Decades pass by and when she met Smith, she said he wasnt the man she met with her husband. But when Brushy came to see her, she said that was the man who had visited her husband. It's seldom talked about but there was roughly 20 different individuals who claimed to be Billy The Kid over the years. Following 1881, there was warrants out for The Kid as late as 1885 (I think) because officials and citizens both kind of refused to believe the account by Pat Garrett. Many claimants were hunted down by lawmen, only for the claimants to admit that they weren't The Kid. I think this was why Pawnee Bill and others went searching for Billy The Kid because it just wouldn't die, because there was several people claiming to be Billy The Kid. I think stories of "Fiddling" Henry Smith were so rampant that Pawnee Bill wanted to end the mystery once and for all. Jesus Christ Almighty God bless you all
