Brett Hall has released this new video where he debunks the neohistorian bogus claim that "no legitimate historian or researcher has ever taken Brushy Bill Roberts claim seriously" youtu.be/d1j8cM1bgwQI wonder why? What was Brushy hiding? Three of his notebooks have disappeared. Morrison had a brief look at them, but the old man would not allow him to make a real examination or take many notes. (p. 60) (Had Brushy read “The Saga of Billy the Kid” and taken notes?) Alias Billy the Kid (1950) Kathleen came down from Indian Territory and took him away with her. They went first to Trinidad, then Santa Fe. ( p. 16) The Saga of Billy the Kid (1926) By wagon the little family must have gone, thru the Mexican adobe village of Trinidad to Santa Fe. (p. 71) Alias Billy the Kid (1950) “When I broke Segura from jail in San Elizario, we rode to his uncle’s ranch in Chihuahua.” (p. 21) The Saga of Billy the Kid (1926) Word had reached Billy that his former comrade, Segura, was in jail in San Elizario. (p. 81) Billy and Segura hurried out of the little prison and made for the ranch of one of Saguaro's friends. (p. 82)

DEATH OF MORTON AND BAKER
Alias Billy the Kid (1950) We stopped at the Agua Negra in the Capitans……. Then Morton and Baker started to run for it. I didn’t want to take any chance of losing them, so I had to shoot them. (p. 26)
The Saga of Billy the Kid (1926) As the posse approached Blackwater Spring, according to Billy the Kid’s account………. When he heard the shot, so the tale goes, Billy the Kid saw Baker and Morton spurring their horses to escape. Billy fired twice. Both men toppled to the ground, dead. (p. 90)

Are any of the quotes describing events that didn't actually happen. Because if they "did" happen then all it means is that both Brushy and Burns got the story right. Which simply strengthens the concept that both of them were being truthful and remembering things correctly.

We can believe Brushy’s every word. “I went back to Mexico about 1907…..We joined with Carranza’s men, and later with Pancho Villa. I was captain of 106 men…. we left Mexico in 1914…… In 1912 I met Mollie Brown and we were married.” (p. 57) Oliver Roberts married Mollie Brown 21 Aug 1912 in Canton, Van Zandt County, Texas, while Brushy was in Mexico.

Nobody said we could "believe Brushy's every word". But we can not 'disbelieve' his every word either. I have always taken the position that some of his comments were exaggerations and/or mistaken memories. Some things may have been straight out lies. But that does not mean he wasn't Billy The Kid and it certainly doesn't prove he got his knowledge of Billy's life from Burns' book.

But that does not mean he wasn't Billy The Kid and it certainly doesn't prove he got his knowledge of Billy's life from Burns' book. Brushy certainly did not get information about the family of William Henry Roberts from any book. Of course, no credible, verifiable document has been found that suggests William Henry Roberts, J H “Wild Henry” Roberts, Mary Adeline Dunn, or Elizabeth Ferguson ever existed. Nothing has been found that suggests Catherine Bonney had a half-sister. No primary source has been found that suggests Catherine McCarty Antrim was ever known as Catherine Bonney prior to her arrival in New Mexico. ACTUAL AND FABRICATED FAMILIES OF OLIVER PLEASANT ROBERTS AND WILLIAM HENRY ROBERTS Oliver Pleasant Roberts became William Henry Roberts (Brushy Bill) Father Henry Oliver Roberts became Brushy’s father J H “Wild Henry” Roberts Mother Sarah Elizabeth Ferguson became Brushy’s step-mother Elizabeth Ferguson Henry Oliver Roberts’ first wife, Caroline Dunn, became Brushy’s mother Mary Adeline Dunn. Oliver’s half-sister, Martha Vada Roberts Heath, became Brushy’s cousin Martha Heath.

I thought we were discussing whether or not Brushy got his information from Burns' book?
