Although William Morrison did a great job interviewing Brushy Bill, and pretty thorough, but if you could go back in time or be present in Hico Texas and met Brushy or present when Morrison was interviewing Brushy Bill back then and you were able to ask a question or two to Brushy, what would that question be? I’m wondering what interesting question or questions you would ask him? I think I would ask him what happened to the other tintype photos taken of him, who he gave them to? I think there were possibly one or two lost to history? There are many other questions but the tintypes mystery have always interested me.

I would ask about Pete Maxwell and why he saw it all go down in his own bedroom yet said absolutely nothing. Why did the 1 honest innocent witness not set the record straight. I'd also ask if Brushy ever seen Maxwell again after that night.

I would ask about Windy Cahill. Virtually nothing was asked about that during Morrison's interview.

There's a lot I would ask him, but the first one is: "To you're knowledge, do you think you might have children somewhere in New Mexico?"

I would ask him why he lied about being BTK. And who drove him to make so much ridiculous claims.

Questions, I would want to ask many. I would want him to talk about marshaling in Indian territory. Did Brushy know Bass Reeves? Did he hand the Bronc Buster to Teddy Roosevelt? How does it feel to be a man who held actual jobs that so mamy great actors have pretended to hold. Clint Eastwood owes Brushy the most. Clint played the owner of a failed wild west show. He played a merc in mexico. Clint doubled down playing a Quantrill raider who takes up ranching just like daddy Roberts. I feel like im missing one.

leeb, Hi, those are great questions. If he lied, i would guess he risked his freedom and what was left of his life because he loved Billy and hated to see him treated so unfairly by a second rate Yanky officer turned half interested governor turned writer. Please note i did not dis his writing. Fiction was his forte. Just ask Billy or Pat Just imagine. You are over 70 years old. Yet you risk even one night in jail with rando New Mexican jail birds. They think he had a stroke just facing the sons of Garrett. Imagine being locked in with some 20 something wanting to have even semi violent fun with Billy the old man kid. Yep love me thinks. Again great questions.
