I had a brief conversation today on facebook with the spouse of man that is George Peppin great grand son. They've never met but they knew George's daughter Carrie Peppin Dow. She was very young during the LCW, and unfortunatly she rarely talked about old times. She told me that her children used to tease her and tell her how " Grandpa would hid under the table during the LCW. 😀

Thanks for sharing. I read that many believe it was George Peppin that set the fire to the McSween home. I don’t know if he really did or not? Awesome that you spoke to his descendants. There were a couple items that sold at auction belonging to George Peppin a good while back, a photo and a signed note telling of him appointing John Kinney as one of his posse, also scrolling lower on the page, there’s a rare photo of George Peppin also in a rocking chair with patches of snow on the porch taken in 1905. www.oldwestevents.com/highlights/tag/George+Peppin

Yeah, he built the house, he probably knew where the fire would stick and burn. Thanks for posting the link Missy, I think its the first time I see a pic of Peppin.

I guess it was hard times for those people and prefered to the past behind and not talk about it. But I appreciated that she answered me and thanked her for sharing what she knew.
