Pat had all the luck of the Ancient Mariner...when he left Lincoln - Dolan's deputy US marshal was supposed to execute BTK saving Pat hanging duties...that certainly didn't happen. The story of John Miller's wife and their life together is quite inspiring - was she one of the Annya sisters of Fort Sumner?

It appears Pat's first wedding was in Fort Sumner and that his second was near San Patrichio ? The story of Pat marrying Juanita's sister seems confused with it being a double wedding and isn' true. There are two wedding photos said to be of BTK - one said to be with Dedrick... That Miller's wife could not be identified in Fort Sumner - is used against his story...Miller said nothing of why he was in Fort Sumner and only that he had worked for John Chisum - most likely as a cattle detective given his alledged skills.Brushy said Barlow had only been at the Fort a few days - there was a rumor of a cattle detective being in town undercover before the shooting.

There was confusion about Pat marrying Juanita’s sister, I believe there was an author that wrote that Juanita Martinez was the older sister of Pat's second wife Apolonia. It’s been awhile since I posted about this but there was an interview with an Abran Miller done by Edith Crawford called the Pioneer Story, I believe the interview was in 1938 during the writers project. Abran Miller tells about how he met Billy the Kid and his gang when they came to his home, but also in his interview he said his father Holan Miller walked away one day and was never seen again by him, and he never found anybody else that ever saw him after that day. Abran had gotten word to go see his father and he rode for a couple days and his father was over on the Rio Grande River, I don’t remember the exact location he mentioned it was on the river?, his father gave him a black stallion and also he gave him the blacksmith shop he had there and said he was leaving and he will never see him again. I was always wondering if this man that disappeared could have been John Miller or Billy Barlow?

John Miller was confirmed as being married in Las Vegas NM while nursing a seroius chest wound only weeks after the shooting of BTK...unless Brushy was BTK - he simply doesn't have a presence anywhere in NM Territory- at a time when everyone knew everyone,,,,so much so that nearly all of the participants in the Lincoln County War (on both sides) had to flee the Territory - even the fearless Coes...

Are there any docs to confirm the Miller tale? If I remember correctly, a lot of the dates, including the supposed wedding date of 1881, have been proved wrong?

The irrefutable fact of Miller's story is that he had the bullet wound : just above his heart exiting out his left shoulder blade - confirmed by Sederwall's autopsy .

BUT, there is no account of his and Isadora's marriage where and when they say it was, and some people have them arriving in the Zuni mountains in 1886...not 1881.
The bullet wound and Miller's teeth do seem to fit the tale somewhere though.

Its unlikely Brushy ever knew about Miller's story....if not -then it independently supports his Billy Barlow explanation for why he was not shot by Pat Garrett....only a few families in Fort Sumner would have known about Miller surviving Pat's bullet wound - so Isadora must have belonged to one of these families.
