I came across something in a booklet titled “Billy the Kid in the Old Regime in the Southwest” by Albert E. Hyde. Published 1960, in Ruidoso NM. There is a chapter where Billy’s alias names are discussed and (without posting word for word, and I’ll re-word it) within the chapter there was a mention that “William S Bonney” was the name that his questionable family in Houston refer to him. Since the book or booklet as it’s a thin book was published after Brushy came forward with his life story, I’m wondering if a member of Brushy’s family had told that snippet of information that they referred to or believed Brushy’s name was “William S Bonney”? It’s puzzling what name the middle initial “S” could stand for as well? Could Joseph Antrim have ever resided in Houston? However since the book was published in 1960 it’s not likely him if the statement was meant as present and not past tense when it was printed? It may just be false information also since it was stated as possible relatives there and not as a fact really, but I have read before that Billy had family in Texas, it was possibly from a newspaper article or some other source I don’t remember?
