Hi everyone I am long time lurker of this forum and wanted to thank all the members for sharing their research, thoughts and opinions. I have seen it mentioned that BTK testified at the Dudley COI, LCW grand jury and also gave a deposition to Frank Angel but I have not seen much in the way of quotes or the actual testimony that he provided. Is there just not much there to discuss or just not much in the way of documentation.

whiskeyta, There is a lot of information in the Dudley COI not only from Billy but others. There is a one set, two vol. book out but it may be hard to find now. I have them but don't quote much because I don't know much about copyright laws. I like them because you can read what Bill as well as others said about the LCW. As for documentation, there is more out there than most people know about but some of it you have to pay for and go to different research centers to obtain it. Again as for me, I don't post any of it for the same reason.

Nmjames, thanks for the info. It looks like there are some used copies still available at $75-100 for the set. Something I need to add to my wish list. It was something that I have seen mentioned in some of the books I have read but there wasn’t much detail as to what BTK actually said during the proceedings. Other than his letters to Lou Wallace and the few newspaper quotes, it just seemed like another way to hear what he had to say in his own words and give some additional insight into BTK the person.

whiskeyta,
I know the lady who's dad did the research and she had the books published. The last time I visited with her, she only had one set left that she would sell. She told me at that time that she was not going to print any more. If you would like me to contact her to see if she still has any for sell, I will and see how much they are selling for. You can PM me let me know.

whiskeyta & oluckyman,
I was able to visit with my friend today and she has only one set left of the Dudley Court of Inquiry. I did ask her is she is going to put the book out in an electronic format and she is thinking about it. She has had several request for it. If you would like the set she has left, let me know by PM and I will get you in contact with her. nmjames

whiskeyta, if you want to hear Billy's own words then you simply need to buy the book Writings, Words, and Wits by Gale Cooper. It has everything Billy said in there. Although, it too is probably getting expensive but it would be the most bang for your buck, all the letters and everything he said during the inquiry and maybe his newspaper interviews too, idk.

Is it just me? Everytime I read a chapter about Dudley it bores me to death and want to quit reading, I also get the same feeling about Wallace.

Lew Wallace = coward, liar, incompetent, lazy,selfish... he had everything in hand to crush the Ring, a total failure as Gov

Mrs Lew Wallace described him in a letter to her sister Joanna as 'a gentlemanly appearing fellow'. He said three soldiers fired at him as he ran from the burning McSween home..p 185 vol 1 Beavers Pond Press 2003 edition He admitted he was known as 'Kid' but not 'Billy Kid'. Dudley's smart lawyer Henry Waldo called him 'a known criminal of the worst type'..p 552 et seq.. His closing argument p 536-611 are a must read.

To be fair to Billy, there are far worse people to have existed both past and present so I think Henry Waldo wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if he thought to pick up a history book 😐 I’d be interested in the name of the actual book/article though.

It's Barron's reproduction of the proceedings of the Dudley Court of Inquiry..Billy also gives account of the setting of the McSween place on fire and his dramatic breakout... There's a vast amount of info from the numerous witnesses summoned.

David Easton's unbiased evidence is particularly good. Incidentally he was at Blazers Mill during the Buckshot Roberts fight. The Barron 2 vol edition is long out of print but might be accessible from a library. Check WorldCat...

The Barron 2 vol edition is long out of print but might be accessible from a library. Check WorldCat... I checked AbeBooks and they’ve got it listed as rare for £314. £314 - if I were a millionaire maybe. I’ll also be checking out Archive.org because they tend to have loads of texts uploaded there for free reading. I’d ask my local library but I doubt they’d bite on a book that costs that much 😂
