I came across this True West article of how Henry got his alias, and thought the photograph with the boat prop and the name "Bonney" was interesting, could Billy had seen this photographer's prop and read the name by chance while thinking of a name to use? I know it's a long shot it happened that way, but it's not impossible? truewestmagazine.com/how-did-henry-become-billy-the-kid/

It said it was an 1885 model. Billy is supposedly born 1859 and supposedly died 1881

The young man in the photo cannot be Billy. I think True West like me thought it interesting because of the name. Could Billy had seen this name on a photographer's prop somewhere and got the idea to use it?, if "Bonney" was an alias that is. I'v seen a lot of old tintypes like this one where a boat was used, I dont know how many used that name on the prop though? but anyway I thought it interesting because rarely you see that name. There was also an Irish pirate named Anne Bonny I think spelled without the E?, maybe Billy read a book about her, and he got the idea for the name from that? Coincidently she also once sailed on a stolen ship named "William". I know the odds are slim he did, but it makes me wonder about the possibilities. I hope one day that mystery of the name "Bonney" can be solved, if his real father was named that or he made it up, I wish someone had asked Billy's brother or cousin Joseph Antrim about the name "Bonney"
