1. Brushy Bill knew Colonel Dudley' s troops were black men which wasn't confirmed until after Brushy's death?
2. I read somewhere that it wasn't well known at the time Governor Lew Wallace offered Billy a pardon. However at the time Brushy Bill knew of this, and it wasn't until after his death, that it was determined to be true. (This is the one I have huge doubts on)
3. Brushy was the only person who knew BTK's girlfriend gifted him a handmade scarf and he give her a tin type photo. Brushy had a scarf in his possessions. This wouldn't be proven until decades later through a letter from one of his Lincoln County War buddies whom mentioned the incident.
I read this stuff quite awhile back, and was curious what anyone's thoughts might be on this. I look forward to the discussion.

"1. Brushy Bill knew Colonel Dudley' s troops were black men which wasn't confirmed until after Brushy's death?"
Confirmed no later than 1925. See pp. 122 - 127, "The Saga of Billy the Kid", Walter Noble Burns, first published in 1925. Colonel Dudley, buffalo soldiers, and black troops are mentioned.
"2. I read somewhere that it wasn't well known at the time Governor Lew Wallace offered Billy a pardon. However at the time Brushy Bill knew of this, and it wasn't until after his death, that it was determined to be true. (This is the one I have huge doubts on)"
Your doubts are well founded. See pp. 156 - 147, "The Saga of Billy the Kid", Walter Noble Burns, first published in 1925.
"3. Brushy was the only person who knew BTK's girlfriend gifted him a handmade scarf and he give her a tin type photo. Brushy had a scarf in his possessions. This wouldn't be proven until decades later through a letter from one of his Lincoln County War buddies whom mentioned the incident. "
A statement without a source is hearsay. What supports this statement?

ericbruce:
Welcome to the site.
If I may ths story about the handmade scarf in also found on page 195, "The Saga of Billy the Kid" by Walter Noble Burns but it was not his girlfriend that gave him the handmade scarf. It was Deluvina Maxwell the old servant.
The letter you may be talking about is a different story and it is about BTK's so called girlfriend. I have the letter here in front of me and it was from James East to Judge Burges dated May 20, 1926. Also in this same letter, Mr. East states that Billy was killed by Pat Garrett at Fort Sumner, on or about July 14, 1881.
