Briefly mentioned as an old drunk in Walter Nobel Burns book who tipped Garrett off to The Kid's whereabouts in Fort Sumner, this man was actually one of the most fearsome gunmen of the Wild West and he told his son that The Kid did not die in Fort Sumner.
He said some Mexican sheep herder was killed by Garrett, and Garrett told The Kid to go to South America and never come back. Collins son said that three men buried the body, and were told not to look at it. Collins said one of the men who buried the body was one of the men Billy The Kid was staying with; Dan Edwards thinks perhaps this man was Jesus Silva.
What is interesting to note is that Brushy mentions Jesus Silva and Frank Lobato in his testimony but Walter Nobel Burns never mentioned either man in his book. So for the claim EVERYTHING Brushy said came from Burns's book is incorrect. Collins was apparently there digging the grave, and said whoever was put into the coffin was not long enough to have been The Kid.
