The images have got similar traits and if that did happen to be brushy then it's obvious that he wasn't born in 1859.

The age of the man is definitely questionable, he does seem to look a little younger than most of the group, looking at the others in the photo, besides the children, many of them look in their late 30’s or somewhat older to me? but I’m not good at determining age. If the man had a mustache perhaps he would look older? The photo was taken in front of a Wanamaker’s department store. I don’t know if this was Buffalo Bill’s current performers or a reunion of some that showed up for the event? It states that it’s Buffalo Bill’s Group and that it was likely a result of the first Wanamaker Expedition, a series of three so called expeditions in 1908, 1909, and 1913 sponsored by Lewis Rodman Wanamaker, to raise consciousness with respect to the American Indian. If this gathering was to commemorate the American Indian, then I wonder if it’s possible some past performers along with current ones showed up for the event to show their respect, or if Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show was passing through and these were all current performers at the time? I believe Brushy had a tendency to look younger however, so having a youthful appearance could make it a little difficult to determine what he should look like earlier. I’m not convinced it’s Brushy, the possibility may be slim, the time the photo was taken may have conflicted with Brushy’s timeline of events as well, I don’t know where or what Brushy was doing in 1908, he said he worked for Wild West Shows but when that was I don’t know? I just thought the similarities was worth sharing.

Your right Cassandra Jane , there are some people that don’t look their age at all, and William Shatner is a great example, he aged gracefully, people like him can fool a person for sure. I think Brushy aged gracefully. I was wondering if a mustache might could add a little age to him, so out of curiosity I colored in a mustache on the fellow to see if it would make a difference?

I can’t really tell one way or another. I’m so used to seeing the other photos of Brushy, especially without his teeth. I definitely wouldn’t think that photo was Billy—maybe a bit too different to be Brushy either if we take the known photos at face value. If there’s a real link and this guy isn’t just some random kid that has a bit of an eerie resemblance in passing, could we maybe be looking at the “real” Ollie L/Ollie P Roberts?

Did a mini photo analysis and these results are both interesting and hilarious. The image of that man in the photo above guesses his age to be mid thirties, and a picture of Brushy in older years to be 43. 43! It also thinks Brushy is 93% Asian.

Ha Ha😆 That analysis may be right about the man, but an older Brushy being 43 and 93% Asian is crazy. If Brushy was born in 1859 he would be about 49 in 1908, so it’s a stretch the man could be Brushy, photo images can be deceiving but I now have doubt, I found a reference that Brushy more likely worked with the Wild West shows around 1885. Cole Younger and Frank James also formed a Wild West Show around 1903, I’m just guessing Brushy would have been involved in that show if he wasn’t drawn to other ventures?

Peter Pan is about 120 years old but doesn't look a day over 12...really? If that's brushy you've all shot yourselves in the foot and proved that the old boy was about as genuine as Mr Pan. First time I've ever seen BTK mentioned in the same sentence as star trek..truly amazing.

Two real men who have both been living breathing human beings - you're the one bringing fairy tales into it or science fiction. Have you really got nothing better to do than pick apart genuine observations that the human body can in fact age unbelievably well for some people?

It could be slightly like the famous reversed tintype but I'm still not fully convinced because I quite like the croquet tintype. Going on the maths, if the real Oliver Roberts was born in 1879, and it is him in the picture, then we're looking at a 29 year old which might be doable. There might be enough similarity, on the presumption that it could be him, that Brushy could have passed himself off somehow, if Oliver's parents hadn't seen him in a while.

Cleaned up the original photo and honestly this site is amazing, but requires a subscription I can’t yet afford 🤦♀️
