That's the thing missy, it's not the items but the story that goes with them. Following a journey brings up so many possibilities??

One of my favorite Billy the Kid auctioned items was the auction for two photos auctioned together or at the same auction one said to be of Billy the Kid and had his signature along the bottom that matched his known signature, it was up for auction, I don’t know what it sold for? The story of that photo was quite interesting it was originally acquired in the early 1900s by a gambler that had worked on a steamboat owned by the T&J Gaff Company and he attended a poker game by the Gaff Company close to Huntsville Indiana, the game supposedly lasted several days and it was said that one of the poker players was Joe Antrim who offered the photo of Billy the Kid to cover his hand, he told the table it was a photo of the famous Billy the Kid who he was related to, the photo was acknowledged by one of the players at the table and also organizer of the game named Hunt, he claimed he saw it before by Harrison Antrim while visiting with the family in Huntsville so he allowed it to be used to gamble with, and Joe Antrim lost the hand, the person that won it went to WWI and it was stored and eventually passed on to his daughter who kept it until her death in 2002, it was a cabinet card, and it was said to have been analyzed by an expert in forensic facial reconstruction and anthropology. The other photo that was auctioned at the same auction and may have been auctioned together? was a photo of Billy the Kid’s Mother which was given to the owner from a friend of the Antrim’s Mr. L. Griggs, who acquired it from Harrison Antrim of Huntsville. I was curios as to how high these would get because I thought they would go quite high. Thats an interesting backstory! Do you know where to look for those photos online?

I believe they were listed on liveauctioneers website, I believe it was in 2005 I never found out how much they went for.

I have to share this. I started to just comment that this photo can't be Billy but instead I decided to share my evidence. In the attachment here you'll see the outline of Billy's face from the Dedrick tintype overlaid on top of Brushy at various ages and you'll see this alleged Billy photo at the upper left. The sizing is set to match based on the distance between the pupils. Notice how the nostrils, lips and chin are all much lower in the image. Unless the photo somehow got stretched vertically, I don't believe it is Billy even through their is a resemblance.

The only thing that throws it off for me being Brushy is the nose and jaw. The eyes and eyebrows are very similar.

This is a photo that was found in Brushy's chest after he died. It has long been thought to be Brushy in his mid 50's, but to me it looks quite a bit different to Brushy's later photos in his 90's. The eyes look different, the mouth and jaw look different, there is no cleft chin. This one looks a lot closer to the Dedrick tintype. I wonder if this is the real Billy the kid and Brushy may have been a younger relative who looked something like him and maybe idolized him.

It looks exactly like him, just a few decades younger. I feel he looks closer to 60 years of age in this photo. Perhaps a reason this photo comes closest to the Dedrick tintype is because this was taken prior to Brushy's visit with that Gladewater dentist. To go with the teeth he also wears no mustache, just as in the Dedrick tintype.

I posted about the tie clasp in the Buffalo Bill Wild West thread, Brushy looks to be wearing it in several other photos, I don’t know how common a design it is, pulling up antique and vintage tie clasps online I didn’t see many with that design.
