I'm repeating a post here I put on social media. This is a photo of Brushy Bill Roberts on the left and the bronc buster from the Rough Riders in 1898 on the right. For those that believe Brushy was Oliver Pleasant Roberts I can tell you that "Ollie" was never in the Rough Riders. How would Brushy get so lucky that one of the very few bronc busters in the Rough Riders would look exactly like him? Is it reasonable to think he made it up when this photo exists? Whether you believe Brushy Bill was Billy the Kid or not, this is obviously the same man in both photos.

The only criticism I have (because that resemblance is uncanny), is the lack of a(n obvious) dimple in the chin in the second photo. Could it be less clear because of the shadows around the chin or?

2 great photos of 1 great man. I'd just like to publicly thank Garrett for not shooting my hero in 1881 or ever.

He is older on the right, perhaps a bit heavier. I think its either that or the tilt of the head/shadows. My grandpa had the same cleft in his chin and when he was heavier and his face filled out a little it wasn't as obvious.

Kind of the reverse of someone losing weight and facial features becoming more prominent/visible.

I want to share with everyone, I took my overlay/tracing of Billy's face and placed it over this photo of the bronc rider. My results are a bit inconclusive I'm afraid. There are many, many similarities to Brushy. The tracing of Billy's face fits over the bronc rider almost as well as it does over Brushy except for a couple of discrepancies. The bronc rider's right eyebrow is not the same (eyebrows can move though). Also the bronc rider has slight wrinkles underneath his eyes that Brushy does not have in any of his known photos and Billy does not have in the tintype. The bronc rider's nose "appears" more bulbous at the end than Brushy's or Billy's but that could be the angle of the head or the lighting. All that said, it "is" uncanny how similar the overall facial shape is, the size and shape of the eyes, the distance from chin to lower lip, width of mouth, jawline, etc. This combined with the overall stature being the same as Brushy leave me undecided.
I believe the bronc rider certainly could be Brushy but I'm not sure.

Very high resemblance. I would say around 97 % probability same person in both photos. If there is ten years between the two photos that could account for some minor changes in appearence. It would fit the slight difference that is visible if Brushy would be about 10 years older in the rough riders photo.

Furthermore, when adding this photo to the rest of the evidence that Brushy was in the rough riders, such as the fact he said he was and the service medal - The total amount of evidence becomes very solid! I say case closed on that part of his story.

Hey Wayne, check this out..IMO, if you squint a bit the wrinkles tend to show up.. www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=558286448631386&set=p.558286448631386&type=3&__cft__[0]=AZW5eJKrgQUtSTbHmhyPdLmaPpwvX_fFRMFExAJgmrOObMggR2MWd9FO4UU11rBGfWgl5qgCvIWlseSkbPqoX7FP0pALpdTvbGxLIKXqsw91exqsxk50qiL39yu8jtw3kvjuu5oFeIQVC34TEBMNwhanLQ03oLvaQo7CN8r9n0Tg3ReCPsLtWiadOmAI22u1_c4&__tn__=R]-RThis a comparison of the photos...

I tried to follow your link but all I get is "this content is not available right now". Can you resend this? BTW, by slight wrinkles, I'm referring to the small ridges of the lower eyelid. The bronc rider's are, shall I say "puffy", and Billy's and Brushy's are smooth. The lower eyelids.
I'd love to see your comparison you linked to if you can get it working.
Thanks!
