I have a photo here that I want to share. It was sent to me by the Great Nephew of Martile Able, who was the lady who identified Brushy as being the kid. The photo is from 1902 and shows Martile, her husband John Able who was a friend of Billy the kid and some of Martile's relatives. Also in the photo are two men who were friend's of Martile and her husband John. These two men have been identified by Martile as Billy the kid and his brother Joe Antrim. In the photo, Martile and John able are back row far right holding the baby. The man identified as Billy is front row center next to the little girl and Joe Antrim is the man standing directly behind him.

Very interesting pic, I noticed the fella's big lugs straight away, then looked at all the blokes and they've all got big lugs!

If this is a family photo then all names should be put to faces.

Yeah saw this on FB, IMO not him, distance between shoulders too big and the length of the the humerus — also known as the upper arm bone is too long as well. Nice picture.

The man does look to be around 46 yrs old around the age Billy would have been in 1906. From some accounts I’v read of Billy, I believe he was fond of babies and youngsters, sitting next to the young girl would be typical for his character. Clydec, thanks for posting this and thank you to Martile Able’s Great Nephew for sharing his Awesome family heirloom? It looks to me to have some similarities to this photo below of Brushy, the mouth, ears and chin.

Very interesting! Indeed there is a similarity to the Brushy photo posted by Missy. The resemblance of the alledged Joe Antrim is most certainly there. Do we have any more photos of Martile and John for comparison? How many photos are verified to depict Joe Antrim?

Interesting that Joe Antrim was mentioned to have possibly been a bartender in El Paso Texas before wandering off to Colorado, I don’t know when that may have been? The Able’s had ties to El Paso and are buried there, I don’t know if that’s is where the photo was taken? but it may be possible that’s how Joe Antrim came to be in the photo, he may have been tending bar in Texas at the time?

The photo was taken in 1902 in El Paso Texas. I don't believe the man above to be Brush but maybe a cousin and maybe the cousin that was killed and thought to be Brushy.

View AttachmentThe guy certainly has ears like Brush, but I cannot tell if it is the photo, but the chin area and cheeks are quite dark. I am not sure it may or may not be. I cannot say for certain, but the ears seem to match, but I am not willing to say yes or no. On the Joe Antrim photo, much harder to say, because I have only seen one photo of him and that is old age. I am not sure, but it would have provenance. Good find. Thanks for posting.

The fellow with his arm resting on the lady's shoulder. I found this on another board, about Pat Garrett's first wife, Juanita Martinez. There is a memorial dedication ceremony being held on 25 September 2021 at the old Fort Sumner cemetery, where the Maxwell family and Billy the Kid's Pals are buried: nediscapp.herokuapp.com/discussion.cgi?disc=39627&article=38619&page=0

Shame that same scar wasn't apparent in the photo of the 20's. Just another picture of absolutely no one. You can buy them on ebay for a Bobby.
