Young Guns 2 Young Guns Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid - Sam Peckinpah's cut The Outlaw Billy the Kid - okay scenery and action for 1930 and cool that Billy escapes at the end.
My least favorite movie about the Kid: Dirty Little Billy, would work it it was not supposed to be about the Kid.
What about everyone else? What are your favorites?

My least favorite movie about the Kid: Dirty Little Billy, would work it it was not supposed to be about the Kid. What about everyone else? What are your favorites? I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite (not by a long shot) but the 2019 film “The Kid” had a quote in it (can’t remember off hand but I’ll look it up and edit it in later) that was a WOAH quote. I absolutely loved that scene. So okay there are two lines in it that as a writer make me weak at the knees. (Assuming it’s fine with Wayne to quote/cite source material on this thread given the nature of it): 1.) Sometimes, when I’m alone, I get this feeling, like nothing’s good or ever’s gonna be. And I try telling myself the feeling ain’t real. I try. But... but deep down, I know. Guess that means ain’t no good moment I ever had weren’t a lie. 2.) It doesn’t matter what’s true! It matters the story they tell when you’re gone. Those were the real stand-outs for me and I did like the portrayal of Pat in it, almost as much as Dane’s portrayal of Billy. Edit #2: on second thoughts, having watched it again last night, it’s a lot better than I remember it being the first time I saw it. Would give it a solid 9/10.

Chisum is one of my favorites, even if its totally inaccurate, John Wayne makes up for it.

The Young Guns is my favorite by far. Another called “Kid from Texas” 1950 I liked too particularly because I like Audie Murphy, The newer one “The Kid” with Ethan Hawk and Dane DeHann was pretty good, it was also filmed in New Mexico. The least favorite would be “Dirty little Billy” I didn’t care for the story, the acting or the actors. “Billy the Kid vs Dracula” a very low budget with a predictable ending, I didn’t expect it to very entertaining however & I think it would be second to least favorite for me. Too bad Sergio Leone didn’t produce a Billy the Kid movie, I love those Spaghetti Westerns.

I’ve been dying to watch it because it sounds like chaos but I have no idea where to start.

I don’t know if it’s hard to find the actual movie or not? You probably can find it and stream online to watch but you may have to sign up for a subscription? It’s not a long movie an hour and 13 minutes long, I believe it was TCM that had it on last October around Halloween?, if you can’t find it, you may can wait and catch it showing again around that time?

God I hope so. I found a copy on Amazon but I’m 99% sure it’s the wrong regional type for my area which is just a crime against me personally. I don’t fancy attempting to pirate it either because that’s just an open invitation for all sorts of malware 🤦♀️

I do not know if any of you saw the Lincoln County War in their Own Words, but I thought that it gave Brushy a bad rap and I think that particular filmmaker has an agenda against Brushy Bill, because in a television show pilot that he filmed, but evidently did not sell, he has Doc Scurlock (played by grandson Scott Scurlock) and it makes fun of Brushy in the atomic age and is a little bit deranged. He is making a film called Trial of Billy the Kid, which I know will not be fair based on his other films about Billy. I like Young Guns 1 and 2 the best.

There is a spaghetti western made about Billy starring Peter Lee Lawrence, but I do not think that it has an english language version. I would like to see Son of Billy the Kid. I wish the William Castle film The Law Vs. Billy the Kid would have been a bit more Hitchcock like, because he made a lot of Hitchcock like horror films, so I know that he was intelligent enough that he knew better than to have the Kid killed. I cannot believe that he much say over it. I think he was just trying to make a B film.

Not movies but what about novels? (Not sure there’s enough to warrant a whole thread on its own, because I don’t know if people other than me actually write novels about him, as opposed to screenplays). I read one from my local library in which Billy was a supporting plot line if I remember right (the most memorable thing from that book was a decapitation where the description that still haunts me to this day). Having looked it up, it was Bill Brooks’ The Stone Garden.

I found it to be unfair and biased. If that is all that filmmaker can do with a budget of $25,000 when he already has a western set right there before him, then I seriously question whether future films should be financed. I could do better with $5,000 if I had a free set to use.

I’ve got a first draft of a novel down but I’m here and ready to wave a support flag for you.
