It has ocurred to me that a certain type of argument which is used time and again to discredit Brushys claim, draws on the identification of a discrepancy between something Brushy stated versus what another person have stated regarding some some historic event. But the thing is, if you take a look at the level of inconsistencies and contradictions between what the various members of the Stinking Springs posse have stated, then it becomes clear that inconsistencies between what persons have stated about a cetain past event is rather something that is normal and appears all the time. My point is therefore, a discrepancy between what Brushy stated vs what some other source of knowledge says, do not make up a very strong case against Brushy. At least not on its own. Here is the link to what the various posse members allegedly stated: www.angelfire.com/nm/boybanditking/pageStinkingSprings.htmlWhen reading through these testimonies I get the feeling that everyone who was there have a different memory of the event. I do not think that fact implicates that none of them were there or that they were all somehow imposters with faked identities. Its just not a logical conclusion to make. I would propose it would make more sense to think that they just remembered the details differently. Or they partially lied or exaggerated for various reasons. What do you think?

The 21 century has scientific DNA...20 century had statistics. 19 century had alias' alibi'impostors - and legal self defence that engendered vigilante justice...hence the Colfax and Lincoln county wars..Clay Alison and BTK.Some despise those who achieve greatness -some try to impose themselves on the greatness of others vicariously -others look for inposters to confirm their cherished traditional beliefs - Pat Garrett killing BTK...no soldier surviving Custer's column...J.W.Booth killing President Lincoln. The most effective use of an imposter was by Jim Miller who killed so many men that self defence was unavailable -as was alabi - so he got his cliants to claim the killing and then plead self defence themselves - worked well in the killing of Pat Garrett..For Jim - the only justice was vigilante as it was for John Tunstall.

John Poe was a successful buffalo hunter -Pat Garrett wasn't. Both were used to packing large carcasses over large distances for less than the 500 dollars BTK was worth...Pat packed Charlie's body back from Stinking Springs. He kept Tom dying in a corner while he and his Posse played cards. Yet he couldn't get rid of the body in Pete Maxwell's room quick enough.
