I’m finding it hard to find much on the Billy the Kid Claimant; (Uncle Dick)- Richard B Williams, I found some information that he was 74 at the time of his death in the year 1934, he died in Barton NM of natural causes and on his death bed he had confessed to two friends not just one that he was William Bonney known as Billy the Kid, I found he confessed also to a Orville Guest as well as Pete Reeves, there’s a mention that he is buried in the Mountain Valley Cemetery in Edgewood New Mexico, not Barton Cemetary as the posted link said, so which one is correct I don’t know? I read he avoided picture taking so there is probably little chance of pulling up any images of this man? He was supposed to have been a good shot and had a fondness of horse racing. It would be interesting to find some of Jerry Ueckert’s research about him, as he was said to have done a lot of research on the man, maybe some of that research can be found somewhere?

This is pretty interesting.
Although it must be said that there was roughly 20 claimants who said that they were Billy The Kid over the years. Miller and Brushy just happen to be the most famous.
Considering virtually nothing is known about this man, it's hard to say either way anything about him. But the most interesting feature is the James family connection.
This reminds me of oluckyman and I's joint look into the genealogy of Brushy Bill Roberts and how it was likely that there was a familial relationship between the Roberts family and the James family through the Ogden's.
I'll have to look into this "Martha James" and see what, if anything, there is to it all. Though I will say the thought just popped into my mind of when Morrison met Brushy the first time he told Morrison that he had a half-brother in Mexico who was the real Billy The Kid, and this man lived in New Mexico near the border.
Of course that's a flight of fancy, but still a fun thing to think about. Jesus Christ Almighty God bless you all 😊
