Oluckyman, Thank You for posting the floorplan, it's confusing to me because according to Jameson, the door to Maxwell’s room he said could only be entered from the hall, so to reach the room from the porch, he said Garrett would have entered the outside door, walk about ten feet down the hall, and then turn left. Jameson has this same diagram in his book but it's facing upside down from yours, I'm confused because if Garrett turned left after walking down the hall, then he had to have entered the South side as shown in your floor plan, it doesn't look like theres a door along the other side to enter from the porch only windows there? Looks like four windows in the room two on each side? I'm wondering if renovations were done later sometime and an entrance door to the room from the porch was added?, if so then Billy could have backed right in from the porch without backing down a hallway? I will try and find a mention of where and how the bed was placed and other furnishings, it would be interesting to be able to visualize the placement of the furniture to get a clear understanding of where he may have fell in the room and how many steps and obstacles he had to have taken to get from the door to where he laid.

To be twisted to fit the Garrett lies narrative that Brushy believers support, one would have to assume that the Maxwells never changed the floor plan in the decades they owned this property. Why would they leave it as a somewhat secure military outpost?? Indians were no longer a major threat in that part of NM when they received the land grant. One would think they’d change the layout to make it more personal, family oriented, with larger rooms and altered entrances to afford privacy for individual family members.

My mistake confusing the land grant and the residence.

“Lucien B. Maxwell, the former owner of the largest land grant in U.S. History. After paying some $5,000 for portions of the surrounding land and its buildings, Maxwell relocated his family from northeast New Mexico and refurbished the buildings into proper housing. “
Not plans, but what I could find while I’m at work. This is from legends of America, and does suggest the layout was changed.
