Brushy Bill, Indian Scout attends show
"Colorful figure, 72 years old
striking physical specimen
"Brushy Bill", 72-year-old former rodeo man, wild west showman and Indian scout, was here from Gladewater for the Texas Cowboy Reunion. Erect as an arrow in his cowboy clothes, keen of eye, looking easily 15 years less than his age, "Brushy Bill" or "Little Bill" Roberts made a colorful figure. His mother taught him to stand straight when he was a child, he said. She was half Cherokee Indian."
His grandfaher, Ben Roberts, fought under Sam Houston during the Mexican war. His father was Owl Roberts, who fought under Gen. Ross on the frontier lines during the Civil War. "Little Bill" was born at Buffalo Gap in Taylor county, January 1, 1869.
