Possibly another new picture??

Hi guys,

Can i just say what a great forum this is and i've been fascinated by billy the kid since i was a child (even though im british)!

Heres a link to what they believe could be a new tintype which may include pat garrett.

I did an overlay of this new photo over the dedrick tintype ( the long accepted photo of Billy ) and I can tell you this new photo is not him. I haven't yet put it in a form I can post that shows why I think so but I'll get that done as soon as I have enough free time to do so. Bottom line is, if you size the two photos so the pupils are the same distance apart, the guy in this new photo has a face that is dramatically different proportions. If you size them so the faces are of similar size, the new guy has eyes that are much much further apart. Not him. I'm sure of it. I have not yet compared the alleged Garrett. I'll get to that too.

They are now suggesting that this new photo was taken at a Garrett and Barney Mnason's joint weddings. The curator of the BTK Museum in Fort Sumner says he is almost positive it is of Garrett and Mnason.

Again, I have no formal training in facial recognition but I know enough to determine this photo is not Billy The Kid. If you size the photo so the face is the same length as Billy's then it becomes much wider. If you size it so the width is a match it becomes much shorter. That may be Pat Garrett and the photo may have been taken at Mason's wedding but that is definitely not Billy The Kid. At least it definitely does not match the face in the Dedrick tintype.

I whole heartedly agree that it is not the kid. I have been going back and forth comparing known Garrett, Mason, and Rudabaugh photos with this photo and can see the one they are saying is Rudabaugh being the most likely match.

I have doubts about the man as being Garrett because he was said to be 6 ft 5, in height , he looks to be the same height sitting as the other men sitting in front?, My question is should Garrett be taller than the others in front?, What are the heights of the other men sitting?
