This is what a medal from the Rough Riders looks like.... According to the Roberts family, after Brushy's death they found a medal they had never seen before in his trunk and had a military historian examine it and told them it was given only to soldiers in the 1890's who fought in Cuba. My question is, outside of THEM who has seen the medal? And if the medal does exist, why not have it examined with a powerful microscope, compare it to others, etc. to determine whether it was genuine, fabricated, etc. Usually such medals (in that time) had someone's name, rank, company, etc. on the back of the medals. I wonder what Brushy's said? We do know that there was a W.H. Roberts in Company D and alot of us happen to think that is Brushy, but we wont know for sure UNTIL the medal is examined.

My question to those on this forum who are more experienced, more knowledgable, etc. than I am and probably have had contact with authors on the subject or even met family members--- does anyone have the ability, to reach out and have this examined?
