I haven't seen it myself but a co-worker told me there is an excellent new program airing on the history channel called "Jesse James Hidden Treasure". It documents the hunt for the treasure buried by the Knights of The Golden Circle and proves Jesse James was involved. In turn, that lends some considerable credence to the story of J. Frank Dalton.
It airs again on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. -

Thanks for that. I'll have to try and watch or record. I went out and looked at some info. on this and understand that this is based on a theory by a guy named Ron Pastore. He lives in Kansas and I believe has a musuem in Wichita. I think his idea is that Jesse survived and moved to Kansas with an assumed identity. I don't think he subscribes to the J. Frank Dalton theory, but I may be wrong. I look forward to seeing the show.

BTW, that's 5 pm Eastern Time, 4 pm Central. I don't know if they actually mention J. Frank Dalton in the documentary. I'm just suggesting there discoveries may provide some support for his claim since he did make a really big deal of his involvement with the Knights of The Golden Circle and buried treasure being hidden away to support a possible reemergence of the the confederacy. I'm really looking forward to watching though. Maybe it's a smoking gun of sorts, maybe not!

Well, I saw the program the other night. I wasn't terribly convinced any of it was on the level. Many questions and suspicions of inauthenticity. The carvings on the rock walls looked like they were added at different times and were very haphazard. They didn't sufficiently explain how the carvings led them to the specific sites. At least not to the one where they actually found something. The one gold bar under the tree makes no sense at all, especially since the tree wasn't nearly large enough to be a 130 year old tree. The photo analysis of Jeremiah James and young Jesse was not convincing since the facial similarities they pointed to were not present in other Jesse James photos. They saw what they wanted to see. It was not objectively done. Over all, I was quite disappointed. No smoking gun. Not in my opinion. Anyone else get a different reaction?

I was in Hamilton the weekend of the 20th (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) and the museum there was closed. My niece, who lives there, has said that it hasn't been open that she's seen in a while. I was hoping to ask about the owner's position that an exhumation of Brushy not be allowed. I didn't get to go to Hico. Maybe next time. My youngest son did get his first deer, though! It was a successful trip!
