Hello from Australia. Personally I don't think Pat Garrett killed Billy. After saying that. I think Bushy should be dug up, & his grave checked for the bullet that was lodged in Billys calf.

Hi from NZL! -totally agree -the bullet plus some good Brushy DNA...like they did for John Miller. I think the Cathrine Mc Carty link won't work for Brushy but if as Paulita Maxwell suggests and some descendants claim - BTK fathered a child in Fort Sumner...Also in the Fort Sumner museum is a good wad of hair said to be BTK's -collected by his barber-like all the photos appearing 130 years after there was always believed to have only been one ! Glad you are getting some rain for your fires at last -

Hi Kerry yes it's great to get some rain 😀. Why would a man on the run do so many high profile things ( that Brushy claimed to have done). Wouldn't you try as hard as possible to just fly under the radar.Could it be possible that he simple left America for a life working cattle abroad?

Hi Peter - yes Brushy would have loved Australia!! However I think Mexico was just a cover and if they did have to go there - it wasn't for long (except for Dirty Dave) Most just changed states and faded away,..BTK 's friends always said he was in Mexico -except for Evans who revealed exactly where he was..US deputy marshals were under paid bounty hunters and it would be no surprise Brushy worked for judge Parker as he had over 200 of them roaming his territory...one story has Billy Wilson becoming a very popular sherriff after Pat Garrett Got him a pardon ...it was the local citizenry that both sides of the law feared if they killed a well respected local..by mistake or otherwise(it wasn't the Law that got Jim Miller ) some locals always believed Butch Cassidy lived out a quiet life close to home without causing any waves. Cheers !

Hello from Australia. Personally I don't think Pat Garrett killed Billy. After saying that. I think Bushy should be dug up, & his grave checked for the bullet that was lodged in Billys calf. Billy received a wound to his left thigh/groin whilst retrieving his rifle from Brady. The bullet passed through.

The only wound that matters is a chest wound through and through - John Miller was proved to have that wound 140 years later by autopsy - but as Miller said himself - he was not BTK ...what he didn't say was that he was a bounty hunter working for John Chisum and had to stay dead to protect Garrett - those involved at Fort Sumner and BTK ...after the shooting - he knew BTK set him up as a decoy ...he knew BTK knew - who he was and needed him dead...John Miller wore Pistol [.45] to his wedding and was seen to have a serious chest wound beneatb his shirt .
Only one wound matters - a through and through chest wound ..only John Miller had that wound -and as he said -he was not BTK...an autopsy 140 years later showed John had a hole through a shoulder blade consistent with being shot in the upper chest area ..everyone needed John Miller to be BTK and dead --his covwr was blown and BTK had set him up - he took the opportunity Pete Maxwell gave him to go as far west as possible and fade away.Pat Garrett was trapped in Pete Maxwell's bedroom that night with a man with a gun getting past his deputies -he was terrified and snap shot the man without voice recognitio.n or any confirmation from Pete - once again Pat Garrett had shot the wrong man - but he turned the situation to everyones advantage and after some difficulty - collected 500 dollars ..but his troubles that would dog him for thr rest of his life had only just begun.
