www.findagrave.com/memorial/113055109/henry-oliver-robertsDo me a favor Wayne, if you would. Since you have done facial comparisons to the Billy The Kid tintype photograph, why not do one on Henry Oliver Roberts who Roy Haws & others insist is Brushy Bill Roberts father. The picture is rather striking. The eyebrows that you say "only the Kid could've had" are the exact same eyebrows Henry Oliver Roberts has. The same jawline & head shape as Brushy Bill Roberts, and of course the prominent ears. Even the nose is basically the same as Roberts. That man is clearly his father. I'm sure you'll say that Brushy claimed that H.O. was his real father's brother, therefore there would be a similarity, but isn't that the same kind of logic that you accuse me of having? Also, similarities don't always mean that someone will have the exact same features. My great grandfather looked more like my great uncle Earl than my grandpa or his other sons. My great uncle Curly is the only member of the family that has the original "blockhead" that my 5th great grandfather from the Civil War had. I could go on and on. Which is why I think it's most likely Brushy was indeed H.O. Roberts child because he was the only one of the bunch, from the available pictures of the family, who looked exactly like Henry Oliver Roberts. One kid out of eleven who inherited the exact looks of his dad, even though I might remark that Thomas Ulysses Roberts looked very much like Brushy did when he was younger. Jesus bless you and your family

I never said "only the Kid could have eyebrows like that". Severo Gallegos said "only the Kid could have eyes like that". Maybe you're mixing up what I've said with what I have quoted. Again you insert words I did not utter. I agree there is a strong resemblance between Brushy and Henry Oliver but I disagree that it means anything other than they were related somehow. I don't agree Thomas Ulysses looked all that much like Brushy but if he did, they were also related. Doesn't prove a thing. I have a nephew who looks more like me than my own son does. I look more like my Grandfather than I do my father. Assuming family resemblance has to pass directly from father to son is inaccurate.
BTW, I should also mention that I do not believe Brushy was born in 1868. I believe the only reason that date is on his tombstone and his death certificate is because that was what he had told his last wife. The info had to have come from her. After all, we know for a fact that Oliver Pleasant Roberts was born in 1879. I won't get into it again here because this thread really isn't about that but I "suspect" there was a real undocumented cousin named Oliver other than Oliver Pleasant, possibly with the middle initial "L" who was born in 1868 and it was that cousin who's identity was taken over by Brushy. Then later, it became safer to use the middle initial "P" on the draft registration. This is all just conjecture but it would explain where that 1868 date came from. There's a whole discussion about that on another thread so let's not rehash it here. Thanks for your thought provoking posts. Maybe later I'll do that comparison with Henry Oliver just for curiosity sake.

As I suspected would be the case, Henry Oliver Roberts looked more like BTK than anyone I've ever compared to him other than Brushy. Not quite as good a match as Brushy but close. I don't think that proves Brushy was his son. It might well just indicate that Henry Oliver was related to Billy The Kid? Here's the image:

Paulita Maxwell did not like the BTK tintype at all and never bothered to keep it for her album ...she could never lie but was a master of allusion and inference with words as the girls of old fort sumner had been silently hiding behind their fans....she alluded to a young girl of fort sumner giving birth to a child that looked remarkably like BTK and that the mother was proud of the fact...descendants of the family invovled believe this today. chino silva spoke of BTK dressing as a girl...the charade was that the little boy was dressed as a girl for his protection until as Paulita put it -she lived to see 8 years...then became Pat and lived a long life? there is the DNA - if Brushy is the paternal ancestor of people possibly living today descended from that child born in old fortsumner - he is BTK alias William Bonney....no need or point of looking for DNA before 1950 - especially in the old fort cemetery! Tongue-in-cheek Wayne- seen on U TUbe a big clump of hair claimed to be °BTK's....from his barber! could this link BTK to Brushy incontrovertably !? ha..ha..the truth is Brushy lived a lifetime of deception that came to work against him when he neared death a saw a chance to clear his name - for the sake of his children who would have to remain unaknowledged forever
cheers Wayne - best wishes for xmas and new year from New Zealand.
