In 1872 a Catherine mccarty of Irish heritage places an advert in while living in Colorado asking for information known of her sister Margaret mccarty and brothers Bernard and Matthew in NJ August 25, 1871. Catherine McCarty sold lots 48 and 50 on Wichita's Chisholm Street. (Wichita, Kansas) March 1, 1873. Catherine McCarty and William H Antrim were married in Santa Fe, New Mexico Territory.
No record of Catherine, or William H Antrim, has been found in the intervening 19 months.

I apologize, didn't know there was a thread about this topic before I posted about it on another thread, according to this article there was a good mining boom not that far that town and could have drew Antrim there for a spell? Interesting article about it and Billy's ancestry name. www.historynet.com/kid-mccarty-name.htm

Not to get off topic, but interestingly there is a mention in that same article about notes in the Antrim Bible hinting of Catherine being an aunt?

I have found severall Bernard, catherine, and Margaret family groups, the right age for siblings one with a brother called Thomas Mathew One with a brother called Martin Mathew One with a brother called Mat with the surname spelt incorrectly One with a brother called either Micheal or Maitiu as the writing is indiscernible inbetween the Mi and the last letter of the name

These families have a Mary in the right sibling age grouping too. Large age gaps from first born to last born , but the Irish families did. This keeps brushys story alive too.

I have not been able to find anything pertaining to any notes or information about the Antrim family bible? It would be interesting to research this further, if there are notes in that bible referring to Catherine being Billy and Joe's Aunt, then it could help prove Brushy's claim of Catherine being his Half Aunt? I don't know if that bible is owned by an Antrim relative?, or in a private collection?, or Museum somewhere? Does anyone know? The article also mentioned a Margaret McCarty listing in a 1860-70 Census and city directory for Perth Amboy and South Amboy NJ, of Bridgewater Township of Somerset County, she's listed as born in Ireland in 1834 and living as a servant in the home of a Sheriff. Since Amboy NJ was the location in the ad as being the last place Catherine heard from her, then this Margaret listed could be the Mary?, and the name Mary I'm guessing could be short for Margaret? If it's true as the article said that Joseph Antrim recalled the family living in Denver then it's a real strong chance it was Billy's Mother/Aunt that placed the ad because that place where the ad was placed was not far from Denver.

I’m feeling a little more confident I’ve got the right family in Ireland and understanding the confusion surrounding it. Catherine’s father married twice. The same witness appears for both marriages. 2 sets of children 2 sets of mothers

So when brushy calls Catherine his “half aunt”, if he is billy the kid, this would be true. Catherine would be his mother’s half sister - his “half aunt” indeed Mary is listed as Mary A But there is no clarity the “A” is adeline, Ann, Agnes or such

I’m heartbroken for the injustice of the time for the family.. Scribbled at the end of Mary A’s mother’s baptismal record, is the word in capital letters... ILLEGITIMATE
There lies the possibility of the origins of the family secret
