One rumour (don't where it came from) to come out in later years is that David E. George/John St. Helen, who claimed to be John Wilkes Booth, was actually Boston Corbett, the soldier who had actually killed Booth. According to people who were present at Booth's death and Corbett himself, Corbett claimed that God told him to kill Booth. This theory claims that Corbett's behavior became quite erratic throughout his life, and up to his imprisonment, escape and disappearance, that he underwent a new identity as St. Helen. Could it be possible that Corbett in his religious rambling became Booth to make up for killing him?
Has anyone done a comparison between Corbett and St. Helen, just out of curiosity?

St. Helen was Corbett. That makes a lot of sense!

I don’t know even know where this came from. I don’t think many people suggested it. I think maybe it was a joke, like how Billy Barlow might have John Miller and that contrary to what Billy/Brushy believed, Barlow also survived Pat Garrett in 1881.

If I recall correctly, someone joked that perhaps Barlow might have been John Miller (the other BTK claimant), and that contrary to what Billy/Brushy believed, Barlow also survived Pat Garrett in 1881.

John Miller did not claim to be BTK but did say he was the one Garrett shot...he was seen at his wedding not long after 14 July to have a chest wound and an autopsy 140 years later found a bullet hole through the shoulder blade consistent with a chest wound...John Miller and his wife must have lived a long life of hardship and desolation with fortitude and dedication to each other - perhaps a more inspiring and meaningful life story than Brushy's !
