Heck noooooo, Texas truth Teller's family will be trying to sue us next. But actually there were reports that the Governor was impressed with Brushy's story and he just had to go with the flow because Brushy showed poorly in front of everyone. But in the private meeting I think Brushy had the Governor believing. In letters from Morrison you see that after the private meeting Brushy was promised a fair legal hearing, But supposedly General Pat Hurley took the Governor in a back room and changed his mind according to a Morrison letter. Also, according to Morrison, Morrison thought Garrett's murder was for the revenge of a man who was killed in Billy's place, a man related to the Clements family. Clark McKinney was the name of the man that said his cousin Kip McKinney killed the Kid. Morrison was waiting on a Lou Blachly to send the recording.

Mabry was notable for announced the meeting between Brushy and him, which was covered by the press. Mabry announced that he did not believe Roberts' story, and denied the pardon application. The press attention and the trip from his home in Hico, Texas to Santa Fe had a negative effect on the elderly Roberts' health, and he died soon afterwards. Regardless of whether one believes Brushy's claims or not, there is no denying the effect it had on his health. Marby and the press pretty much drove the poor guy to his death. Should there be a case of unintended murder here? Don't you think that Morrison was responsible? He was the one who drove a vulnerable old man to keep up with the pretence of being the kid. Mabry was approached by Morrison and brushy?

Why should anyone be to blame? Brushy was a grown ass man he knew what he was doing. None one forced him to do anything.

If I recall correctly, Brushy's wife was also rather ill at time, so maybe that was worrying him more than anything else and the other subsequent events pushed his health over into the danger zone?

In the end tho, after careful analyization, Marby did cause Brushy's death and he should be at least charged with manslaughter or... or even worse. Marby went back on his word like a typical politician but that should not be tolerated anymore in this day in age. if Marby caused a man's death. Give Brushy his pardon that Marby screwed him out of. Or forever New Mexico will hold that dark plague of Santa Fe like ring corruption that hangs like shadows over their lowered heads..... as they collect high taxes from all the businesses everywhere throughout the state, very high taxes and it is not uncommon to hear the words Santa Fe Ring whispered in this day... did you think it would be??? only when one will stand up and admit what Marby did. He was a politician. He lied to Morrison and Brushy. You don't think he told other lies? He was a politician. New Mexico probably has this guy's face hanging in a museum instead of honest people.

Yeah, I'm not sure that the Santa Fe ring ever went away. There still seem to be shady goings-on.
