After reading an interesting book "Wilson & The Kid " by Donald R Lavash written about the life of William H (Billy) Wilson, I found some interesting information about Wilson's activities after he was arrested with Billy the Kid at Stinking Springs, more really after his escape from jail. One time Wilson became involved with a couple of pals one named Bud Davis and the other named Kid Shannon. In September 1901 Billy Wilson, Bud Davis and Kid Shannon was arrested in Silver City, New Mexico for assaulting a man in a saloon, they were released on $1000.00 bail, and charges were eventually dropped. In 1902 Billy Wilson, Bud Davis and Kid Shannon again team up in Mexico, they stole some horses from a large ranch, (without going into a long detail about the incident), they eventually managed to load the horses on box cars bound for sale in Jackson Missouri, Wilson leaves Bud Davis and Kid Shannon at the railhead at Deming with a promise that he will return once the horses were sold and will divide the money equally with the three, but Wilson didn't return as promised, instead he relocated in Missouri and changed his name to Robert Levi Martin. I wonder about the two pals, it was believed that Jesse Evans real last name was Davis, I know it's questionable about the name Davis, but I'm wondering if it could be possible that Bud Davis could be Jesse Evans?, and as for Kid Shannon I wonder if Brushy ever used that alias? I know it's a stretch but it would make sense that the Kid would team up with his pal Billy Wilson again in Mexico and do some rustling, it's just a thought though. I can't find anything more about the two names. I'm not sure precisely what Brushy's activities were in 1901-1902, I read that he said something about opening his own wild west show around that year or time, but not sure?
