The Charlie Bowdre pic looks more like Dick Brewer and visa versa.

Wildblue, Thank You for sharing your photos and thanks to Wayne Land for helping you post them, the photo that you believe is Dan Diedrick has a stain could be rust?, but I just wanted to point out that the original photo of Charlie Bowdre and his wife Manuela had a stain across the photo like that and it was noted to be blood stained from being in Bowdre's pocket when he was shot, your photo if an authentic Diedrick could have also been in Bowdre's pocket?, just a thought, we know Diedrick exchanged photos with Billy, who's to say he didn't do the same with Charlie Bowdre? Some of the backgrounds in your photos do look to be southwest in design, your photo of the Billy look alike has a background that if you could research you may can find the building or place it was taken?, the owner of the croquet photo researched and found the place his photo was taken and it gave his photo more promenance, your photo looks like it could have been taken beside a stairwell of a building?, the checkered flooring is unique, although alot of buildings are long gone in New Mexico it would be hard to find, but there may be another historical photo with the same background of a person that's a known New Mexico resident in a book or in another collection somewhere? if it was taken in Tecumcari then that could narrow down the site of the background, some of your photos do look like who you believe them to be, I hope you can find more information to help you get them identified, Higinio's descendants may can help? I hope you don't give up researching them.

Dear Missy, Thanks for your opinion, it was helpful. Leaning toward rust on the tintype, but I'm no expert. I've owned these tintypes since 2013, and during my research of William Bonney's appearance I can honestly say I was "bit by the Billy bug". I developed a passion for all of the historical facts, pictures, and information that surround him and others he was associated with. While looking into the family's ancestors, the great great grandmother would have been 11 years old when Billy was killed. I find it more than coincidental that every tintype that accompanies this one look like people he knew. I was told I have an uphill battle when it comes to establishing provenance. Oh so true!! An interesting fact...while researching the family's genealogy there are Roberts, Millers, and Poe's. Trying to figure it all out is above my capabilities, Have enjoyed the discussions on this forum, thanks to everyone!

Wildblue, Your tintype subjects look like they range from a few Maxwell's, a few Regulators, to possibly Chisum and Sheriff Brady, then theres Higinio who fought in the LCW and was Billy's friend. Somehow there's a connection?, you mentioned a Dr. that may have lived at the time that may have had contact with all of them? that could be a possibility, and a family that may have owned the tintypes that lived in Tecumcari NM, that had the names Roberts, Poe and Miller connected to them is very interesting, that family may have known some of the Regulators or any of the ones photograghed, your right there's many different scenarios that could have happened to have brought them all together? I hope you find that connection. and I hope you have enjoyment doing so, I enjoyed looking at them all, their clothing and hair styles. Im glad you found them, have you had the facial matching done on any of them? Please keep us updated.

Missy I am glad you have enjoyed looking at the tintypes. To answer your question, there hasn't been any facial recognition done on these photos. I'm unsure of the validity of facial recognition. I don't believe that would be enough to establish rock solid provenance. It is my hope to prove a chain of custody. I will gladly keep you updated.

After reading the thread Brushy/Billy Ears this evening I wanted to post close up photos of the hands of the possible picture of Sheriff William Brady, to show how the tintype photography can reveal small errors. Wondering if that is the case with Brushy's ears? Does anyone know if William Brady was injured from the knuckles down in one of the wars he fought in? Look at the hand without the cane. Unsure what went on there with his fingers. It looks like an error to me.

I just noticed my tintype subject has a wart on his hand in the middle of his index finger near the bottom. I looked online at the Dan Detrich tintype and he has one like it , in the exact location. Any thoughts, comments, opinions?

Those white dots appear along Billy's ear in at least one of the photos, there are three altogether. A photo anomaly. Most likely. It appears your subject had a gambler ring on his pinky. Billy likely wore one and there is a pic somewhere of the supposed same one. Also Pat Garrett wears one in a pic in West of Billy the Kid.

Thain, Thank you for your opinion. You are right there are white dots along Billy's ear. That tintype has a lot of pitting, but the Dan Detrich picture is in much better condition except for the rust. I appreciate the info on the gambler rings. Three of the men in my tintypes are wearing pinky rings. Billy, Ygenio, and Dan D. I read Wayne Land's post about the ring Billy wore. Go to Brushy and Billy Photos then scroll down to Billy's ring found. Comparing tintypes on the computer makes it difficult to determine such small things, like a wart. I'll keep trying though.

Here is a picture of my Billy photo reversed. There is an arrow pointing to his hairline under his hat, because it sort of looks like Brushy Bill's hairline. Brushy? More like wishful thinking.
