“The Saga of Billy the Kid”, p. 106 Hindman was dying, and called for water. Stockton dipped up water in his hat and took it to the dying man. “Alias Billy the Kid”, p. 83 The first thing a wounded man wants is water, so I went to the well, filled my hat with water, and gave it to them.
Brushy Bill could not possibly have gotten the idea of using his hat to carry water to an injured man from reading what Burns wrote.

Of course you believe that is exactly where he got the story and maybe he did. Then again, maybe the story is true except that it wasn't Stockton who provided the water but rather Billy himself. Maybe Brushy's version is the more accurate. But then, if Brushy only knew about the story by reading it in Burns' book, why didn't he say it was Stockton that got the water? Or maybe it never happened and Brushy read the book, liked the part about the water and included in his interview. Does that mean he could not have been Billy The Kid or does it just confirm what I've said many times, that Brushy lied about parts of his story and had memory issues with other parts?
I still believe Brushy Bill and Billy The Kid were one and the same person.

Well, like, at least he didn't say he put the water in his boot, man...
