What are the specific scars that Brushy had that correspond to Billy's wounds? I only know of the hip wound. Also what wounds do historians agree that Billy received other than the hip wound?

One on the hand from Blazer's Mill,possibly. Usually they make a big deal about the scars when there isn't much to it except a poor old dirt farmer like Ollie L Roberts wouldn't have that many scars unless he was really damn clumsy.

I think the short answer is, "Nobody knows the number, size, or location of Billy the Kid's scars." Is there any credible history that supports Brushy Bill's description of his scars?

Of course, not all will agree it is credible but make of it what you will. When I visited Hico in 2006 I met a druggist who remembered Brushy. Of course he was just a young boy in 1950, but he told me he remembered his father from whom he had inherited the drug store telling him he had seen Brushy's scars and witnessed Brushy demonstrating how he escaped handcuffs. For me, that was pretty credible. Also, I once had a copy of a newspaper article reporting Brushy's death and claims of being Billy that included an interview with the owner of the funeral home who verified the scars, stating something to the effect of he had never seen so many scars on one man during all his time at the funeral home. I'll see if I still have that article. I'm not sure and thus I'm probably not quoting it ver batim. And then there is Morrison, who I believe is credible as well.

I'd love to see the newspaper article if you find it. As far as credible history, that is why I asked - I'm wondering if there are any other wounds that historians agree upon other than the hip wound. He shares the same physical characteristics of Billy and has a bullet scar on the hip just as Billy would have. If he has more scars that match the wounds of Billy, it makes for a strong case of physical evidence.

I'd like to see the rest of that article, what this J.J. Smith had to say about being 17 years old when he first met Brushy Bill Roberts.

The most significant wound was caused by the bullet deflecting off the rifle that he had picked up from beside Sherriff Brady....the bullet travElled down the outside of BTK's leg above the knee and was known to have never been removed.
Brushy had the same wound and the bullet to prove it according to Morrison who said he could feel the bullet under the skin....that bullet today would still be with Brushy...such a unusual wound could not be immitated. Morrison also felt along Brushy's jaw where teeth had been shot out in his version of the Maxwell shootout...

Actually, the hip wound he suffered when they were retrieving the guns off of Brady after they shot him was a flesh wound that passed through his hip and according to brushy, struck Fred Waite in the leg. The one where the slug was still present behind his knee was according to Brushy from a different fight altogether. |

Thankyou for correcting me -you are definately right...the wound must have caused BTK to drop the rifle..the bullet above the knee could be a vital clue..
