Probably a coincidence, the name being Roberts. But one thing does come to mind that could be related. There is a story I heard in Hico, something about Brushy had told some folks at the barber shop how he was once arrested for killing an Indian but was then released because he wasn't guilty and later an article was discovered telling the same story and citing the name of the man who was arrested and later released as "Billy The Kid". I'm not sure I've got that repeated correctly and I wish I would have written down exactly what they said when I heard the story but at the time I didn't think it made much sense. I'm going by what I remember.
Ask yourself though, what would Brushy be doing in Lincoln in 1898? Probably not him.

I thought about that myself. I think in the lost interview book he was in Mexico or somewhere. I was wondering since he knew so much about the LC war. He might have still been hanging around Lincoln and got into a scrape. Also on another note. What to Brushys buck teeth that a dentist cut out?

I've heard it said he had kept the teeth in a jar and they were in his famous "trunk". But I suspect that is unprovable. The contents of the trunk were with his widow Melinda after his death. I believe her descendants still have the stuff that was in the trunk. I've also heard it said that Bean and Jameson made off with the contents of the trunk, but I don't believe that. I do believe the teeth were removed by the dentist in Gladewater and I suspect he disposed of them as would be the normal course of action.

Well the teeth would be an excellent source of DNA. I'm sure somebody out there has them. Like most things they will probably come up one day.

I found some evidence once that Henry Oliver Roberts could have been a deputy sheriff in the Indian Territory in the early 1900's Bryan County, Oklahoma to be precise, which is just right on the Texas border. Perhaps how he and Brushy met. Wonder if this H.B. Roberts is him?

I always suspected Henry Oliver Roberts to have done more than just be some farmer in Arkansas.
