if he had admitted he was the kid in his younger days then perhaps he wouldn't have ended up penniless and living in a shack. But then he wouldn't have been able to hide behind the forgetful old man scenario when he failed to answer questions about the county war. Maybe, or maybe he would have been believed and been hung. Who knows. It is probably the same reason that William Campbell alias Joe HInes kept quiet all those years or that Butch Cassidy took an alias when he came back alive from Bolivia, they were wanted men! Could you share the credible source that proves William Campbell was Joe Hines? Just because it is in print in some book about Brushy Bill does not mean it is true unless the source is identified so that cit an be verified by others.

Rolling ground penetrating radar isn’t hard to source nowadays, matter of fact I bet college at Cruces could source a crew if motivated...visit ft sumner, roll the burial site undisturbed at least in the uncaged area / no disturbance. Some of these crews would do it free I bet, if contacted, they’d drive down.
=momentous day, just to know if any burials are there. Rolling the perimeter of the Kid/Bowdre/O’Folliard cage gets us at least within a few feet of knowing something for the first time, to retro measure all the written speculation the last hundred yrs Just seeing if any burials are there or 3x people nearby interred would be something

wouldn’t brokering that deal, all free of charge to try and see history, be quite the event (connecting via writing and phone calls the property owners with interested gpr crews from big cities etc)
Why haven’t people with connections to gpr thought of this and been negotiating already? Know something for once, about that ground.
The mayor of Ft Sumner and the director of the Bosque Redondo are wonderful people who care about history and they’re open minded people. At least worth a brainstorm, roll the burial grounds and see if total relocation occurred or flood removal made it no longer a cemetery. Might take years to clear, but get ball rolling.
Finding some confirmation of burials I think would be a big deal for all parties involved. Mowing the lawn for the place creates more of a disturbance than gpr

Didn’t know they weren’t a hundred grand lol that’s merely a portable bag sling on shoulder. Accessible easily. The lawnmower size devices were from me watching 2009 documentaries lol that’s up to date.
NM does -not- permit metal detecting of their land but this is not the same, at all. It’s wave detection, harmless. Amazed. Doesn’t take negotiating with a discovery channel crew to access absolutely cutting edge historical data can be had in twenty mins zero disturbance. We would need to meet with the directors again, I did for my flight surveys it takes a little planning but is just all around compliant and ideal and aligned with regulatory powers who in the end are archaeologists who like exactly what we like. To show up with cutting edge footage not coordinated with them= gulp
coordinate all steps and present prior test work, but what difference is radio data vs drone data / no diff no disturbance fingers crossed.
All one can do is present an earnest request and see if the stars align, they sure as heck did for my drone flights it was one of the most important permissions I’ve ever earned in my life. NM regulators are friendly to sincere historians just have to book the meetings and they do not charge $ its free to the persistent
