The second time that I visited Lincoln my wife and I stayed in the B&B that was inside the old Patron adobe. It was the original old adobe building and very neat indeed. Billy, they said, had carved his initials in the wooden door jam, but I couldn't find them. But when we stayed there we might have slept in the very room that Billy was held in when he was incarcerated and waiting for Lew Wallace to award him his pardon that never came. The couple who ran the B&B have since closed the place and it is too bad too as it was a very neat place to stay.Sleeping in an adobe house is different and very comfortable. Last time I was in Lincoln the old home was empty.
