Now... The 'S' and the 'SUE' are the telltale features of Susan McSween Barber's brands... Far as we know the tobacco signs in the foreground began in 1902 as well as selling of her brands to Monroe, so at the earliest the photo could have been is 1902. UNLESS I am mistaken as to the beginning of the tobacco company, although the saddle and spurs are telltale features of 1900+. Jesus bless you all 😊

Wow, good find Rufus. That really does make one think. It would be interesting to find a list of hands who worked for her or for the Three Rivers CC.

Tis true concerning the names. But then their might also be other photographs; especially group ones of the hands together, say on horseback as an example. I have helped several ranches in our area over the years, and been involved in numerous end of the herd gathering photographs where every horse and rider is side by side. Those pics will inevitably become a part of the history of those ranches, and might even end up in a book about ranches in the region. Such books are prevalent here, usually done by a local historian. It's all speculation I know. But if someone with the know how was to begin investigating the Three Rivers CC, they most likely would come up with some pics

"However, as I have told critics before, "looks like" isn't a strong enough argument, especially when you consider everybody ages different and all known facts of The Kid is that he looked far younger than he was. Hence the name Kid."
I agree. I was 40 when we moved to Montana. I can remember more than one person saying how they couldn't believe I was that old. Wish I could say that now. Ha!

Just for fun, I seen where Mrs Susan McSween Barber sold out to Monroe Harper for $32,000 in 1902 and in 2018 when you take into account inflation, the sale would've been for $937,121.86 altogether.
That's quite a hefty pricetag, but I'll be honest I expected more than that. Sadly, Susan McSween Barber ended up penniless living in the ghost town of White Oaks, living off funds from her son.
NOTHING really exists in White Oaks today except for weather worn old cabins falling apart. But the town did have a lot of history, especially when it comes to Billy The Kid.
Some skeptics of Brushy Bill Roberts assert that how he got so much information about the outlaw was straight from Susan McSween Barber's own lips. That explains some things, but not all things about Brushy's knowledge of people and places and events, nor does it explain his own physical features and the wounds as well as him being able to slip out of handcuffs. Not to mention the affidavit's of support to his claim.

View AttachmentHere is a really good enhanced photo of Brushy on horseback. By looking at his riding equipment and looking at the signs on the building behind Brushy you can try and date this photo. I have heard dates of anywhere between 1890 which is when Brushy said it was taken up to 1920. This photo someone posted on fb claiming it depicts Brushy, supposedly taken in 1900. Attachments:
