"Missy, I couldn't find the mention of Billy's sister who married the miner in the True Life of Billy the Kid, I could have skimmed over it if it was hard to find. I remember reading it though, maybe someone else remembers where she was mentioned. Maybe the article about the Kid's Castle? Supposedly it says he had a brother John and a sister that married a miner. " Mckinley412, That book or booklet Wide Awake Library entitled; "The True Life of Billy The Kid", was written by Don Jenardo, there may be a different book with the title "The True Life of Billy The Kid"? Not sure? I wonder if Billy had a sister why she wasn't listed as a witness at the wedding of Catherine and William Antrim?, or why William Antrim didn't mention Catherine having a daughter? I wish someone had interviewed Joe Antrim more, he could've gave a lot of information about his mother, brother/cousin, real father or any sister, I dont understand why he wasn't questioned more?

Ahh, yes, you are right. There is another book by the same title and I thought about asking you about that and I should have done it. They are both super old. But I remember that now and I will add it to my personal files. Don Jenardo. Which people can look up in Nolan's Billy the Kid Reader, (I love that Nolan book).

Another great find by one of our Brushy members This is a super rare find that mentions a a sister and you people don't have to be worried about copyright laws so much. There is a 'fair use' law that says and by the way the leniency for internet use is even more lenient, but if you are using an image for non-profit educational, research, critique, etc it is fine. I don't post stuff from books exactly because it is against the groups' rules but that is the only reason and I really don't have a problem with that, but I don't think this menu applies to the group rules and every single photo you will ever see does not apply here in these discussions. And then there is the whole copyright expiration thing. We aren't writing books and selling them. We are just talking about stuff. I couldn't find the link on my page that I wanted to share but please familiarize yourself with the laws and then we can share even more with each other. So this was the fifth time a sister was mentioned. Although it doesn't sound like they got a lot of the rest correct.

This keeps coming up in various places so I'm compiling a little of sources that mention Billy having sisters. truewestmagazine.com/billy-the-kid-slideshow/ This article mentions a sister who lived in Santa Fe and note it also mentions Billy's corpse having a beard again, this time he used a root to dye his skin. Donald Cline's Alias Billy the Kid mentions that in a 1930 article by Maurice Fulton in "Folk Say" he says that Billy had two sisters, his father's name was Williams. Catherine took the sisters back to Nova Scotia where she married Antrim. WPA Files in the Library of Congress- Dr. J. R. Carver says that Billy's sister came out to visit him but then didn't even visit his grave and then went directly east.

I believe there is yet a sixth mention of Billy the Kid having a sister, in an interview and oddly it’s very similar to the story on the Griggs menu, and Im wondering if the info may have came from the same source as that menu? There was an interview done with an old timer in New Mexico named Hambolt Casad, taken from Marie Carter around 1930’s in Anthony NM, it was one of the writer project interviews. Hambolt Casad stated that Billy’s real name was William E Bonney he mentions Billy and his family had came to Georgetown New Mexico, shortly afterward the Kid’s father was killed by apaches. and a miner was involved with the Kid’s sister, it pretty much parallels the story on the Griggs menu with Billy following his sister and the miner and telling him to marry her, and Billy shooting him because he was already married with six kids in Texas, and the miner became Billy’s first victim. Hambolt Casad mentioned Billy becoming an expert poker and Monte dealer as the menu did. I was curious about Georgetown and I found a reference that the Antrim’s may have stayed in Georgetown located between Pinos Altos and Silver City New Mexico shortly after their marriage and that Catherine wasn’t happy there and urged Antrim to move to nearby Silver City in the book “Before Billy the Kid, the boy behind the legendary outlaw” by Melody Groves. So the part about the Antrim’s residing in Georgetown may have been true? Georgetown was said to have been a rough mining town and could have attracted Antrim to move there and do some mining for a short spell.

So the part about the Antrim’s residing in Georgetown may have been true? Georgetown was said to have been a rough mining town and could have attracted Antrim to move there and do some mining for a short spell. I need to clarify a mistake looking through and re-reading the twelve page interview of Hambolt Casad, there was a page I couldn’t pull up so I read past it, I was able to finally pull up that page and it was not Hambolt Casad that told about the story of Billy the Kid’s sister, but George Griggs, after interviewing Hambolt Casad, the interviewer visited Mesilla and spoke with the Historian George Griggs, the continuation of the interview was by him and not Hambolt Casad, so that explains the reason the story of Billy having a sister that married a miner was so similar to the story on the back of the Griggs restaurant menu posted by McKinley412 further up on this thread. George W. Griggs was born in Mesilla, New Mexico on May 2, 1866. Griggs began writing the history of the region, History of Mesilla Valley or The Gadsden Purchase. Griggs also ran the Billy the Kid Museum in Mesilla. He died November 2, 1939. It’s interesting that Griggs was a historian which makes me want to research his story further. I apologize for the mistake.
