I doubt they made a lot of left-handed holsters. Alias Billy the Kid in one part sounds like Brushy is identifying that photo as him in Dodge City but when you look at the picture in the book it says it was identified by Bill and Sam Jones, but I like to think that Brushy was talking about a different photo that he made with the Jones Brothers in Dodge City because that is obviously not him in the photo. I think Bill and Sam Jones made a mistake when they identify that person as Billy the Kid, you know how everyone owns a Billy the Kid photo right? I stumbled upon this link about an auction that is over sometime back that had tintypes up for auction, one I think is showing the caption says it’s of Billy the Kid and the Jones brothers John, Jim, and Tom, I’m wondering if the man standing up on the right is supposed to be Billy the Kid? I’m wondering if this could be the tintype Brushy was referring to that he posed with the Jones boys? The tintype was sold from Bowlin’s Old Fort Sumner Museum, I can’t find anymore information about it or pull up the photo due to it being sold, so I don’t know anything about the actual provenance other than what the caption says, amp.usatoday.com/story/news/local/2017/10/06/billy-kid-tintypes-antiques-bowlins-old-fort-sumner-museum-up-auction/740410001/

Can I ask where y'all acquired these photos? I'd love to source them back and get the highest resolution scan possible, if possible!!

Is there another source where all four persons faces are visible?

Found one. There is definitely a resemblance to Brushy, but the photo is grainy so its hard to tell.

The manuscript started as about 92 pages that were saddle-stitched (staple-bound), and then it later evolved into a book. This usually sells fairly high, as seen in this completed auction on ebay, which indicates that it was "A never before published manuscript handwritten in 1880 and discovered in 1976." The author was part of the Rudulph family of New Mexico, whose papers included the personal account of Charles F. Rudulph (1854-1914) , a member of Pat Garrett's famous posse. A Spanish epic poem by Rudulph about the outlaws is also included.

Anyone know if the photo is presented with a story in the book? If it comes from this Rudolph family it would mean some provenance I guess.

In my opinion from this photo its obvious that Brushy was not just 70 years old. Look at the lines running along the side of his ear and neck. Thats the lines of a 90 year old. At least a lot closer to 90 than 70.

Do you think this photo was black and white originally? I thought it looked like a normal colour photograph.

I just haven't seen any in colour until this one so I just assumed it had been coloured.
