Bill Roberts was reported to have made an interesting comment to Morrison while visiting the alleged grave in ft sumner. Hey says I was never afraid to die fighting but I did not want to be shot down like a dog unarmed. In one of the kids proven notes to gov Wallace he says (in regards to the fake arrest) send men you can depend on "I am not afraid to die like a man fighting but I would not like to be killed like a dog in the street unarmed. Not exactly smoking gun material just very intriguing

Great observation. I believe there are very few coincidences. I don't believe it was a coincidence that Billy was known to enjoy dancing and so was Brushy. Or that Billy had a relatively high pitched voice and so did Brushy. Or that they both had large ears. Or they both were 5'8" tall. And on and on. But this example of both of them using the same turn of phrase is, I think, very important. As you say, not a smoking gun, but intriguing. Yes indeed.
Thank you for finding that. Of course the naysayers will claim Brushy said that because he read it in "Alias". Well, maybe. But I wouldn't think so. Good stuff.

Also, I have found other similar comments. While I'm on my laptop and easier to type I would like to mention again that John P. Meadows claims to have gotten a few things directly from the kid's mouth. Meadows said Kid told Olinger to "Look up." And Brushy said the same. Also, one author pointed out especially because of the 'recently discovered "Billy" letter that he would not have thought of himself as an outlaw, but instead a freedom fighter and Brushy said twice in a row "I wasn't no outlaw, I wasn't no outlaw". That especially, I do not think could have been made up if someone was trying to pull a hoax. Of course, Meadows also said the Kid told him he was lying on his stomach when he shot Bell. I find it very hard to believe that a man born about the same time the kid was dying and a couple of researchers could have gotten so many things accurate when it took years for other researchers to do it, and if Brushy's authors knew enough to pull off a hoax and put words in Brushy's mouth they would have made many other mistakes, such as ... A MILLION THINGS! If only they had spent more time researching the unpopular things such as childhood, family, etc.
